Ok, so my computer seemed to be running fine, it's a duron 600/A7v, I usually leave it running.
Then one day, I try to use the CD drive (Yamaha 8x4x24 internal IDE) and it's suddenly not recognized by the system. I check System Properties, and it says the drive is disabled because there is a problem with the Secondary IDE Master. What?
I reboot a few times, the drive is always detected in the BIOS, and will open and close, but is disable in win98se because the secondary master is messed.
How does something like this happen, and what could I do to fix it? The computer works fine, except I can't use the cd drive at all (because it's on the secondary IDE cable). Is it possible something is physically wrong or is it software/drivers? Anyhow, I'm lost, and help would be great. Thanks a lot in advance.
