Possibly, anyway...almost got the wife talked into it.

A new ST60, or a new Samsung E8000.

This year's "bang for the buck" TV from Panasonic, or last year's flagship from Samsung?

I'm assuming that the top dog from Sammy last year would still be better than an ST60?

personally I don't trust samsung displays... especially not their plasmas. too many horror stories with failing units. Not just that, but horrible customer service on top of it.

I would opt for the panny. I personally like their picture better than samsung. I find sammys are too color saturated and not enough black.
 
I'd still buy the Panasonic. Looked at the same TVs ourselves.....Samsung or Panny. Bought the Panasonics, esp. after reading horror stories about Samsung's lack of service, outside of having the only service option being sending crap back to them for replacement. Works OK for things like SSDs, etc., but not for large screen TVs.

Bought the GT version of what you're looking at. You won't regret owning the Panny once.
 
Calibrate a Panny ST/GT/VT panel and never look back. Nothing comes even close, except maybe a Sharp Elite.
 
The pricing on the Samsung F8500 is very aggressive at the moment, and the picture quality is, particularly in bright settings, about as good as it gets with plasma tech. I have had one for about a month and been thrilled with it.
 
I would go with the Panny, just out of personal preference/experience.

Note: I own a Panasonic Plasma, and a Samsung LCD(LED) TV.
 
I have recent Samsung and Panasonic plasmas.

The Samsung has a sharper picture and works better with my Harmony remotes. The Panasonic has better blacks and motion.
 
If you have DirecTV, the Samsung has a built in RVU, so that's a nice feature. Other than that the Smart TV apps are pretty similar.

Yeah, the Smart features aren't a big selling point, because I use either XBox or PS3 for that.

And I have TWC....way too many trees here for satellite.
 
Another vote for a Panny. I have one that is a couple years old and it still blows away my neighbor's TV when I look at them.
