just ordered a pci ide controller and 2 round ide cables. zzf had free 2nd day on all that i ordered. i was on newegg looking up the same stuff and zzf came out $30 cheaper WITH free 2nd day shipping. i dont know if im going to use newegg anymore since their shipping is so high on the smallest stuff and their prices are higher on some things. i use to use them for everything but now cus os the hot deals forum i am finding all these cheaper and faster alternatives. hopefully others will look elsewere to show newegg that they need to stop charging $5 shipping on a $1 pencil but newegg is still VERY GOOD on rma's so i will give them that and i have yet to have any kind of problems with newegg shipping anything but if i can get the same service elsewhere at a much lower cost, im rollin down the digital river
 
Don't stick with one retailer. Always shop around for the best price. Newegg beats ZZF sometimes, sometimes ZZF beats NewEgg, and sometimes Monarch, mWave or Tiger Direct (rarely) has the best price.
 
for me, newegg and zzf shipping times are about the same (a matter of a couple of hours at most)

newegg ships from either NJ or Industry, CA (the latter is REALLY close to me)


ZZF ships from northern cal and thats also not that far


however, i purchased a few components from Monarch and they dont charge me tax because they are in GA, plus, they have fast shipping (cpu in 2 days, motherboard in 3 . . . that's because i wasnt at home to sign for the mobo)
 
I didn't know newegg had a warehouse in New Jersey. Do they have duplicate stocks or are some things primarily in CA?
 
A lot of the smaller items have massive stocks in cali, a lot of the chassis and larger items have a massive stock in jersey. Like for example, 5 out of the 6 cases I've order came from jersey.
 
I'm only like 100 miles from ZZF... plus free 2nd day shipping. So I stick with them instead of newegg.. I get charged by both in Ca, so why not. But I usually try to shop around...

I just saved nearly $25 over ZZF or NewEgg by ordering my DFI nforce4 Ultra board from Monarch Computer... Lower price ($149 compared to NewEgg/ZZF's $169), No tax and only like $7 shipping.

So, anyways, the lesson is shop around.. Don't stick to one retailer regardless of your preference or trust factor. You might find a better deal somewhere else... Newegg used to be my choice of place to shop too, but not anymore.
 
just depends on what your ordering where it comes from. I got all my hardware for my new system through newegg last time and several things shipped from NJ and several from Calif.

Have only tried zzf once and when I tried to sign up for an account it gave me some weird error message.So not wanting to deal with that I went to newegg but those are probably two of the better ones from what I hear.
 
I made my observations because if they had those cases in cali it would have shipped from there, since I'm around seattle.
 
I never going to do bussnes again with this company newegg is better this is what happen to me : I ordered DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 ULTRA-D nForce4 from ZipZoomFly on the 02-01-04. And I received a phone call from the company telling me that my shipment was on hold because my shipping address and billing address were different. And all they asked me for confirmation was what my shipping and billing addresses were. How this 'verifies' me I don't know.. so I call them the next day 02-02-04 and they say thats it was error from there side and toll me that it ben all ready shipped that day so here is me waiting for my confirmation traking # and I never recieved not confirmation # yet and is allready 02-04-05. I call again today02-04-05 and they say that they will give me a track # after 5:30 PM so I say 5:30 pm well you know what; I want to Cancel my order and she say not I can't do that so I ask her why? and she say because the order is been packed and ready to shipment so what happen to the 2 day shipping? well who know but this is my last time buying something from them.

PS:
So here I sit, once poised to put together a right good computer for the weekend and now I have to wait until Tuesday, and that will only be if they happen to ship my order at all.
I never have problem with newegg so newegg forever.(BTW no traking # yet and is all ready 5:55 pm pacific time ) I live in california bay area.
 
Every company makes mistakes once in a while .... you shouldn't let that stop you from ordering from them again. If that kind of thing happened a lot they wouldn't be used by so many people.
 
Monarch is really a kick @ss company. Unfortunately I live within 15 minutes of them so I really can't order from them due to taxes (unless taxes are less than shipping, depends). They have a nice little shop, where I actually got to see the case I wanted in person finally. They have good customer service & they are planning on growing into a major player in the hardware business.

NewEgg is good, ZZF & Tiger Direct I am not so sure about...but I am going to check out that Mwave place because I have never heard of it.

OMG Mwave has the Corsair Xpert memory!!! w00t to whoever mentioned them, I love you!!!!
