When are companies and scientists going to realize that if a human can build it then a human can destroy it? As far as I'm concerned, they are wasting money in this field of R&D. They should really just hand their research dollars to MPAA and RIAA to tell them to STFU and keep to themselves. Every piece of software has been cracked. Even ones that have hardware that are required to allow the programs to start. What about the unhackable bike locks in Europe that are crackable with a 10 cent Bic pen? Or the Sony (I think it was Sony) who had the unbreakable audio CD that was beaten with the push of a shift key.

The resistance is futile, I say! Accept the fact that for every person that graduated with honors or has some special degree in computer science or engineering, there is always going to be a person that never went to college that is as capable of having the same ideas and figuring out how to break it.

If you can think it, there's a way to do it!

So if I lend you a DVD I am doing something wrong? If that is the case then local communities all across this country are screwing copyright holders out of compensation everytime they lend out a book at the local library.

my thoughts on piracy...
if they stop selling us DVD or CD's or any other kind of media. then they'd wouldn't have to worry about spend so much money on it anymore.

Don't worry it will fail misearably, just like DIVX did, consumers aren't that stupid.

Its official. The MPAA has surpassed the RIAA as the most naive association in regards to socialist practices. Fingerprint and Iris scans?? This entire idea is seriously depressing, maybe we should just embrace the entire socialist/communist idea and start putting these things in everything? Or rather, make America into an Imperialist Empire. I mean, why stop with DVD's and CD's, why not put hidden camera's in the produce section to stop those grape thieves. You know who you are, snacking on those grapes or gummy bears. You evil doers.

not to diverge into a political discussion but I would consider this type of action to be more fascist then socialist/communist. This is raw capitalism at its most base of forms - trying to squeeze every last penny from the consumer. It is also a stupid idea - a generic password can be shared i.e screw_U_MPAA and nobody is going to want to scan their eyeballs or fingerprint just to watch a movie.

This isn't RAW capitalism... since the MPAA has their hands in government.

Crooked organizations + crooked politicians != free market.

I'll stick to Netflix.

Maybe that's the goal. Get people disgusted with purchasing DVDs, and suddenly every company and their mother is running a subscription service. All the fun of taking our money without having to 'let' us own anything.

A stupid goal for stupid people.

are you kiddiing me? You think that having people get an iris scan to buy a movie is okay? What about families? will each member need to pay $20 to watch the dvd? And gifts? how will you do that? this is stupid and if it comes true people will stop buying dvds.

Don't worry. By the time any of these anti-piracy measures come to market in a widespread manner, we'll already have the ability to rip them with open-source software and share with friends over encrypted P2P over fiber-internet.
