You realize this has nothing to do with suppressing religion or other such garbage, and nothing to do with freedom of religion.

1) the property was purchased with laundered money (ie, money from a crime)
2) Texas law allows authorities to seize property shown to have been used to commit a crime. Since Jeffs was convicted of raping little girls there (not to mention the other hundreds of crimes that surely took place there), a judge authorized the seizure of the ranch.

Problem not found.

There is a money laundering charge I believe the guy Warren Jeff was committed of including many other offenses. He is now in Prison. So it looks like they are using the Civil Forfeiture law to obtain the land. In Civil Forfeiture cases it is on the onus of the person who owns the property to prove themselves not guilty. Oh wells...

Jeffs is serving life in prison after being convicted in 2011 of sexually assaulting two girls he took as child brides. The ranch was owned by his Utah-based Fundamentalist LDS Church, whose roughly 10,000 followers believe polygamy brings exaltation in heaven. They see Jeffs as God's spokesman on earth.

The state asked a judge to allow the forfeiture, alleging that FLDS leaders financed a $1.1 million purchase of the land in 2003 through money laundering. It also cited sexual assaults committed on the property. Under Texas law, authorities can seize property that was used to commit or facilitate certain criminal conduct. A judge granted the state's request in January.

ur trolling rite op?

EDIT: Oh, is the point that you're trying to make an analogy between the illegal use of this land to that in Nevada? Because that's a silly argument if so (and I'm on the side of the Feds regarding Nevada).

lol. I forgot to put up the Sarcasm tag. I despise the FLDS because of their abuses. I live in Utah and know a lot for former FLDS people. Its quite tragic.

You definitely need to be a little more direct when using sarcasm on the internet, it's sorta impossible to have a tone of voice that gives it away in type.

The article lacks the detail necessary to determine if the forfeiture was criminal or civil.

Civil forfeiture is an abomination under any circumstances, imho.
