Another 'once in a generation' weather event is coming

To me Pine Apple Express sounds like a low budget tropical version of the Polar Bear express train. Some kind of sketchy train made out of bamboo going through some rainforests and stuff and the track is of questionable standard. The conductor is always high.
 
The wind howled and those big trees threw a few limbs. The doug firs seem to sail out a long ways. This 3" one came down like a lawn dart on the edge of our driveway and dug a 4"deep hole. That could ruin your life!

I was in the rain Friday getting started on cleaning it up, but temps were dropping, and it was starting to ice. I went home before the roads got bad. A bit later, a white pine went over...

I'm gonna mill the logs, and clean up the spruce snag. Maybe keep it for awhile. Lots of brush to get rid of.
 
This is hardwood country. Not worth much for firewood. That said, I'm gonna stack the smaller pieces for the boss' girlfriend's outdoor firepit, and I'll take the medium sized rounds home to make Swedish candles. It's a good way to burn wood outside without wasting the good stuff. If it was in my backyard, I'd burn it in my stove just cause I had it right there, but conifers are pretty low on the desirability list. If that's all you got though, it'll burn.
 
That's mostly what we burn in the PNW. You can get the odd load of orchard wood if you are on the east side but it is pricey.
I've had that same bunch of trees send one in so far that it stood up, and this is bony ground. I can drive anywhere on it and not leave a track in my lawn.

Tradeoff for living in the PNW. Looks worth it to me. I'd love to get out there some time.
 
Drove through Buffalo last night and there are mounds of snow in the roads everywhere. All roads are passable though. A lot of front end loaders and dumptrucks roaming around to transport the snow from the city elsewhere, but a lot has melted in the past couple days.
