Sorry to be yet another idiot looking for advice, but you guys have spotted some things in other ideas that I wouldn't have found. The idea for this rig is to get Flight Simulator X to run less like a pig, and a few other games for fun.

CPU: C2D E6600
Mobo: Intel D975XBX2KR LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX
EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3
Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
PSU: Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 ATX12V 650W
2xSeagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s (RAID 0)
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner (SATA)

Am I doing anything really stupid there? Thanks.

Watch out for the flames about the Antec power supplys, i take it there is no budget persay for the system, nothing really wrong from my view, looks ok from here all depends on what you want, i would say a PS from a group like Seasonic, FSP, PCP&C, and the like i think..

Well first, this is the first time I'm building from scratch. So I wanted something that could handle power but was simple and stable -- won't be overclocking. Figured out I didn't really want SLI at this point -- looked like just diving into the 8800GTX was the right approach for flightsim, and seems like a lot of people are having funky issues with the sli chipsets still, so that meant I was looking at 965 or 975X chipsets. When I did that, this one came up well recommended on Newegg, and the descriptions seemed like it would fit the bill.

Think I'm going wrong?

Mobo choice is fine. I have the BX2 on an e6600 and it's great, nice and stable, was an easy setup as well as offering fast performance. 975X is still a great chipset. I'd agree w/ ShellGuy too maybe switch up the brand of PSU...I'd throw in Silverstone in there as well as well as Corsair.

Flight Sim seems to be heavily CPU-limited, so you may want to get a fancy cooler and overclock.
