I purchased a new cpu fan/cooler and vid card which arrived today.

I installed the new hardware, plug the power cord back in and low and behold no vid (monitor recognition), no post beeps, nadda. I installed old vid card and nadda. Reset cmos with old and new card, nadda. I disconnected everything and then booted the computer without a vid card, nothing, then no vid card/ram, nothing again! No post beeps or audio recognition of errors (my mobo has some girl say "xxx" not working if something is not correct).

I start it barebones with no cpu, video, ram, etc. Then I finally get the audio girl that says no cpu.

Here is where I stand.

The mobo talks to me saying "no cpu", but when I install the cpu with the ram removed I get no girl talking to me saying no ram. I am hung up.

Pre post should be cpu, ram, vid card check in that order but when I install the cpu I get no error for ram.

I just noticed that I accidently got some arctic silver on the cpu and pin holes for cpu on the Mobo. Would this cause the mobo to fail?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes AS5 spanning the pins of the socket can cause a short and possibly damage the motherboard. Be sure to clean everything good and try it all again.

How would you recommend cleaning it? Arctic Silver is very sticky, and I tried my best to clean it already but there is some still inside the pin holes for the cpu on the mobo that I cannot get out.

Is it real AS5 or some knockoff brand?

AS5 isn't suppose to be able to conduct electricity. So the board may not be damaged but if its down in the holes of the socket then it may be preventing that pin on the CPU from making contact with the socket which would exsplain your problem. Not sure there is anything you can do to get it out of there just short of buying a new board.
