Yes... It has been tried, and recently. I wrote to Anand asking him to lend generic support to distributed computing projects (all) in general. He didn't even acknowledge my existence. Russ might have a chance with him - but I'm small potatoes evidently.

Anytime anyone wonders if Anand supports distributed computing, jut think about the avertising revenue he could get for the button he put on his front page that's used to advertise distributed computing instead.
