Note his professional reply...so reassuring of his good 'traderism'... :Q
:Q

Maybe I should bid on it, then file a report with eBay & get him kicked off..then again, it's probably not worth the effort.

Don't know how obvious this is, but you could e-mail everyone bidding on the memmory!

So it's true... Most people ARE this way.

I thought I was just a magnet for these types of morons. Thank you for enlightening me.

Already emailed one...when I get home (college now...should be taking a test soon, so I'll be about out of time), I'll probably try and catch up on his other auctions.

I received another reply, after mentioning that (being a hardware trader myself), it's not really a good reflection to reply with messages such as his.

Apparently, asking how I'd know if I would receive what I bought, considering he has a -1 rating, was questioning his "integridy". :Q

Grammar skills of a Tibetan, non-English speaking three-year-old... (I'm not, in any way, dissing on Tibetans... I respect them and feel for their plight)

How does he expect to sell "$10,000" worth of computer stuff if he has a -1 rating? How blatantly rude of him.

It's not polite to ask what the reserve is, but it certainly doesn't warrant the F-U response. Just say "it's a reserve, I'm not telling you. :p" or something else vague. Let them find out their damn selves.

he is right on that, whether he is ripping people off or honest, somebody will bid on it

either way, he is correct, telling you to F off won't affect his auction, he will either get money and send the ram or get money and not send the ram

Why not? :p

I'm not too familiar with eBay, preferring to stick with FS/T forums such as AT. I only have 5 eBay ratings, but 40+ on heat...now that I know asking what the reserve is is frowned upon, I'll probably refrain from that in the future.

However (as someone stated above), I hardly think my question warranted an "F-U" response.

Asking the reserve isn't frowned on. I have asked it a number of times. Most of the time, I get a response with the reserve price. Once in a while, I get an email saying they do not want to tell me. I have never been told off for asking this question.

I have put up a number of auctions with reserves and have been asked the reserve price by a lot of people. Some auctions I tell them, others I do not.

I would not shy away from asking this question again because of one prick.

Reserve must have been somewhere below $10.50.

Don't feel too bad. Even if he really would have shipped it, he probably would have jacked you on the shipping cost anyway since it's not listed.

In my opinion, you were the one being rude by questioning his integrity. That is, whether he actually has the product and is willing to ship it to you. If you have any doubts, you should not bid on his auction. I mean, do you normally go around emaling people on whether they will actually send you the product? I know I would be mad too if someone sent me this type of reply. So try to understand his viewpoint. But I do agree, his response was a little harsh.

He has -1 feedback. If I am even slightly uncomfortable with any trade, I ask.

Understand my viewpoint...I ask someone with a NEGATIVE rating about something they're selling, and I'm told "F-U"?

Hopefully I'm not the only one that would ask for some sort of verification of a negatively rated eBay user...if you were browing the FS/T forum and saw cheap stuff, but the seller had a negative heat rating, would you buy without thinking about it?

Yes, if they have crappy ratings.

I know I would be mad too if someone sent me this type of reply.
You have a +11 on ebay. He has -1. That is a slight difference, no? I would be slightly annoyed, but nowhere near enough to respond in his manner.
