another mixin memory question....

It should work, but no guarantee. The system will default to clocking the RAM at the speed of the slowest stick. If your motherboard supports overriding the default, you can try overclock the PC2100 RAM to 333 MHz (2 x 166). A lot of PC2100 RAM will work at that speed.

i would have to come try an figure out that overclock idea in another thread, HAHA.

would going this route be a PLUS upgrade or would i be better off just using the 512 an doing away with the 256?

Just set the memory clock to override the default for your memory, and set it to 166 MHz.

If you live anywhere near a Fry's Electronics, they often have sales featuring 512 MB sticks of name brand PC2700 RAM for around $30 - $35 per stick. If more RAM is all you need, and you can find a similar deal, you could afford to buy a pair of those and sell your single stick of PC2100.

sooooooo, would i be doin myself an injustice by addin the faster 512 along side the slower 256? since i don't know how to override the clock. would i be better off to just use the 512 minus the 256 an buy another 512 later?
