Any 14-yr old who could knowingly and willingly be so cruel to both the cat and it's owners is a sociopath and will end up in jail eventually anyway.. probably for killing one or more persons.
YES, BECAUSE WE SHOULD PUNISH PEOPLE FOR CRIMES THEY HAVEN'T COMITTED YET.

idiot.

Statistics prove him right actually. Especially for crimes of a person that age.
The fact still remains he hasn't comitted any crime besides what's listed in that article.

Which IMO is enough to put him in jail for a few years and then on probation for a few years. If he sets fires then he is close to concluding the trifecta. As for future crimes. You can't imprison someone for that, so yes it was a moronic statement.

No problem at all with a few years of time and probation. :)

I just hate morons yelling "lock 'em up forever because he's gonna kill someone as soon as he gets out!!"

The kid took pleasure in the cat's pain. He does deserve a hefty punishment for it. IMO, a short time in a corrections facility, maybe 3 months during summer (so it doesn't interfere with school) and lots of required psychologist meetings and probation would be a good punishment.

Jeffrey Dahmer used to torture and kill animals such as cats. And guess what? He ended up with frozen a$$ in his freezer!

I'm not sayin the kid isnt a little wierd in the head, but I think theres as much weirdness here as in his head. I mean, "Lock him up and throw away the key"....Over a freaking cat? Come on now. I say a couple months prohbation and some community service. Its a CAT people.

Agreed. Probation and community service. No jail time required.

Required therapy is a must IMO. If this is what he regards as normal, he's not straight in the head and only a trained professional can help him.

a 14 year old that will do this will most likely do bigger and more things later, caught and punished or not.

I look at it two ways.

1. The child needs help. He still needs to pay for his crime, but he needs mental help as well.

2. If it was my pet....I'd kill the little SOB...maybe feed him to the same gator.

1. Why? That is just your brainwashing by liberal society.
A child that takes pleasure in the pain of other beings can't be scared straight, and obviously has a few mental issues. Why would you say that trying to get this child some mental help is brainwashing?

True, it is just a cat, but I think the bastard deserves 5 years in prison + lots of community service when he gets out.

The most amazing thing is the IP Metamorphosis. Take your Average Joe. He'll admit he's not a psychologist, he's never had any real hand to hand combat training, his martial arts experience is limited to Jackie Chan on the big screen and generally knows very little except that which he directly influences (His job probably)
But! the minute he sits in front of a computer with a network connection he suddenly becomes a PHD of Psychology, has a Masters in Cultures and Societies, at least a 3rd year college level of mathematics, a basic understanding of molecular structures and how they interact with each other, a proclaimed expert on parent child interactions, has studied at least 3 major forms of martial arts with world renown teachers and last (but not least) is a Golden Gloves boxer in at least 3 states.

He's a kid. He killed a cat. Dear God he's doomed to a life of crime and bloody murders, we should kill him now before he harms a parakeet next time. :disgust:

Hey, my brother did that too, and he's a lawyer!

Coincidence? :D

BTW, I did my undergraduate work in Psych with a minor in Soc and I'm working on a MA in Special Ed. I work with kids who have emotional disturbances (among other problems). I stand by my opinion, and my colleagues generally agree based on what we see every day of the week/research/etc.

However, the only thing remotely close to martial arts I know about is Tai Chi. :p

Oh yeah, before I get misquoted or misunderstood, my opinion is that this boy lacks empathy... not a good thing to lack. :(

NuclearMoron is the one who made moronic statements and tried to put them in my mouth. My statement stands. This kid should be locked up for life for what he did and the manner in which he did it, not for future crimes although I am sure that once he is done being coddled and reprimanded he will do even more heinous things.

He did more than just kill a cat. He stole it from a neighbor knowing how much pain it would cause. He did it in a very violent and premeditated way. He tortured it before he kill it.

To act like it was simply an accident or a trivial matter is idiotic.
