Yeah, and that was with an air to air missile even.

Someone on the other thread posted how they still did flights over areas if those weren't being used, but they are there and they still were doing commercial flights.

Bad call.

When I fly within Indonesia I stick with Garuda Airlines and when I'm flying into/out of Indonesia I usually use Singapore Air or Silk Air (subsidiary of Singapore Air)

BTW, another example: Delta and United Air do New York -> Tel Aviv nonstop, wouldn't be surprised if there were other Middle East (aka ASIA) examples.

No one considers the Middle East as being part of Asia. India and further east would be considered part of Asia.
 
Putin must be shitting in his pants by now. If that anti-air craft is traced back to russia ... One thing is ukrainian killing ukranian(cough)-seperatists, the international community will deal with that with sanctions.. But killing ~300 random civilians of random origin?

Looks like they may have gotten these from capturing Ukrainian air defense garrison, and not necessarily Russia.

- In wich case putin will spin it as ukrain is not up to the task of handling its own national security and thus another argument for military intervention.

You really think that Obama should start a major war with Russia (which neither he nor Putin would actually fight) to prove he's not scared? He's a six foot tall black man who happens to be POTUS - surely he's above sacrificing others in a dick measuring contest.

And I remind you that he DID move F-117s into theater, an unmistakable sign that if necessary, he was willing to stop further Russian aggression with military force. Considering that Ukraine would be totally devastated in a war between Russia and America, surely that's enough of a response. It appeared to work anyway.

You are the one that said western Russia and now changing it to all of Asia.

But here you go JFK-TLV, JFK-IST, ORD-IST. Link None go through Ukraine.

My whole comment about Europe to Asia flights meant that I understand great circle routing and about the only flights that would fly through Eastern Ukraine, i.e. the air space banned by the FAA, would be flying Europe to Asia. NA to Asia or NA to Europe wouldn't fly over the Ukraine on normal scheduled routes.

I also said I doubt there were any scheduled US flights over that airspace, I never said I knew for a fact none did, and there may be one flight out there that does. Regardless the FAA closing that air space would have almost no impact on US flag carriers, where if EASA closed that airspace it would've had a larger impact on EU carriers. That could be why the FAA was more proactive than EASA.

We can determine that it did indeed come from Russian anti-air weapons.
We can strengthen world resolve to keep or strengthen sanctions against Russia.
We can hold firm for the protection of Ukraine until we can work out a long term agreement.

Basically, this is a ribbon to stick on our negotiating badge table in Eastern Europe.
