Folks,
I'm trying to get an H-P Pavilion 6623 going again for a friend's daughter after replacing the dead HDD. She doesn't have the recovery disks anymore and I'm playing hell getting the modem and audio drivers and even though the motherboard is an Asus P5S-VM whenever I download and try to use the standard SiS 530 VGA drivers I get an itty, bitty screen! Boy, H-P did a number on these! Does anyone out there have a set of restore/recovery disks for this particular model? Any help would be appreciated and please - go easy on the H-P jokes, she doesn't know any better!;)

Update! Do you guys think I might have a shot at trying to download the drivers from the old hard drive? If I can access them that is! Please LMK, okay?

I tried those modem drivers but they're just updates and when you try to load them they prompt you to load the original drivers because it can't find all of the files? It's a real pain in the butt. And H-P isn't much help either, the girl I spoke with on the phone obviously didn't give a rat's-a$$ and told me I'd have to BUY a set of restore disks which are $26.34. Hell, even Compaq will send you a new restore disk for free!

This might work for ya...

Try the driver that you downloaded from HP's website again. This time when it asks for the disk containing the missing files, point it to your C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS folder.

I'll try that tomorrow. I'm afraid that if I touch that rig one more time tonight it will be to palce explosives in it! Thanks Daniel!
