WTF is with this right wing cult shit you've been touting?

I would say something, but I notice you quoted yourself in your own sig. How do you not suffocate in your own smug?

I'm sure that by passable you mean boring to the point of unwatchable; another movie I rented and couldn't be bothered to complete.

W has a couple problems: 1) I still don't know if it's a comedy. I really don't. The ads make it look kind of stupid, 2) WAY TOO LATE. This would have been a hit some years ago, maybe in the summer of 04 or something but now? People just want to forget this dream. It's McCain and Obama. Bush is nothing.

Came in 4th on its debut weekend. Just barely pulled in $10m dollars. Pathetic.

Beat out by Max Payne, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and The Secret Life of Bees.

When is Hollywood going to learn?
Have you seen it?

I haven't seen it, but heard that it documents the one accomplishment of bush's life and that was overcoming substance addiction.

Corbett, you are a mean and simple person. stone could make a movie about you but that probably wouldn't make much either.
Stones making the sequel to Dumb and Dumber?

Already done but not by Stone. Didn't you see 'Dumb and Dumberer'? If you didn't be thankful. It was brutal.

Um..
AN AMERICAN CAROL:
TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic: $6,776,000

You're not going to get me to defend that catastrophe like many did in this thread with the failure of "W". The point is, Hollywood continues to put out political hit pieces like the movie "W" and they continue to fail miserably.

The only thing more pathetic than the movie "W" is the people here obviously went to see it and are trying to defend it.

He calls this movie Bush bashing when reality-based people have prety much all said it's a 'sympathetic' portrait of Bush, albeit one that does show his behavior for what it is.

Liberal sites in particular expressed disappointment that it wasn't really anti-Bush.

So he's delusional on that; and he's pretty misleading about how well it did.

The comparison to 'American Carol' is apt - that was a whiny movie based on right-wing fallacies about liberals. It bombed.

But who is one of the few who did waste their money on it? IIRC, Corbett.

I tend to be interested in an Oliver Stone movie, but I'm just not interested in Bush. We know enough about his evil behavior that the movie doesn't offer much for me to go.

???? I went to see "An American Carol" Thats news to me.

Once again, Craig's over-generalizations fail miserably.

Have you seen it?

Is it really a political hit piece or are you spreading disinformation?

So you're attacking hollywood now? are they anti-american? is disney?

It'll make money when if comes out on DVD like most smaller movies these days. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $30 for me and my wife to see it or any other movie that's not some of event like a Batman or a LOTR movie.

Preach on brother! We used to go to the movies 2-3 times per month and stopped about 10 years ago. Going to the movies just isn't worth the aggravation and cost. Between the parking, lines for tickes, lines for concessions, lines to get into the theater, rude assholes in the theater, and cost it usually resulted in a less than entertaining evening. We've got a decent home theater setup and enjoy watching movies at home much more. The only downside is you have to wait until they're released on DVD but it's not that big of a deal once you go the 6 months or so between theater and DVD release.

/derail 😉

So about 10 people point out that it is actually sympathetic towards Bush and you then come in and repeat your nonsense about it being a hit piece.. can your head be any more in the sand? Pathetic.

We will see it tonight.
Problem is, the film has VERY limited theater showings.
Only the artsy theater here is showing it, just like with most Michael Moore movies.
Not one mainstream movie theater is showing this locally.
So I'd bet THAT fact has a lot to do with its popularity.
If the one local theater showing it here is packed tomorrow night, like they are with the Michael Moore films, then the mainstream theaters will pick it up in the next few weeks.

ps. Note, I refuse to see another film with talking animals.

It opened in about 2000 theatres nationwide which qualifies it as a wide release.

Alexander was a trash movie, not even worth watching in full.

What other Bush hit pieces have been major theater releases? The only other one I can think of is Fahrenheit 9/11, and that was the highest grossing documentary film of all time.

(seriously, there might be others but I can't think of any)

More pathetic than you? You haven't seen the movie, or obviously read any of the reviews, since you assume it's a hit piece.

You're a fucking worthless ditto head.

It?s a liberal brainfood, I am sure it?s a full house in NY and CA. I remember watching Fahrenheit 911 in NYC and people in the theatre were awing and sighing loudly throughout the movie. I hated the republicans at that time for taking the country down and enjoyed watching it with them? came back home after Dems showed their height of hypocrisy by picking a candidate based on skin color

I saw W. on opening night in Cambridge, MA, and tickets were sold out. People were waiting in line for 2+ blocks to get in. In other cities in the Northeast and West Coast, it may have garnered the same crowd.

Oh please, someone with your ingrained prejudices would never and could never be a liberal, you haven't evolved yet.

What a pile of BS. Either you're lying about being a liberal then (almost certain) or you've changed your views so radically over the last 6 months that it shows you aren't able to think for yourself, a fully programmable voter.

The film was panned by most critics left and right as poor satire and boring. As to it being a hit-piece, the liberal rag Wall Street Journal would disagree in their review. But how one would portray a presidency with a 25% approval rating as anything but a disaster is a mystery to me.

I was on the bus yesterday going home from work. As the bus was crowded, people were somewhat packed together. Trying to make the best of the situation, I tried to "zone out". However, as I was trying to "zone out", there was this guy taking loudly (as if he owned the place) to this girl about the movie -- blah, blahh, blahh.. "didn't show how truly evil Bush was!!! Bad movie.. wanted my money back... Bush is Satan",etc. You know -- one of those, "bush ate my baby" type of people.

In any case, I was going to give him the "STF up look" -- trying to make the best out of the situation even though the bus was crowded and its been a long day at work. Just wanting to impart onto him that I don't really need his "bush ate my baby" dogma right at that moment... It was at this time that i notice how ugly the girl was. The girl who was a red head, was nodding in agreement with the olfs every word; she was short, skinny on top with no breast, a big butt, and what could only be described as tree trunks for legs. It started me thinking.. yea, I have friends who are Obama supporters -- most of them not bad looking; however, they weren't really rabid Obama supporters. Its just that being in chicago, everyone is "told" to like Obama, they just say "yes" when people ask them if they like Obama.

Now for the really "hard core" supporters -- I know several who works for Obama campaign here in chicago. One helped by working the phones. Another, I think went into neighborhoods and passed out fliers. In any case, both are not very attractive. The "phone lady" who went to northwestern, was 35lbs over weight. The other was short and black (also overweight and "bitter").

So on the Bus, through out my 30 minute bus ride, I thought and thought. It seems to me, at least in chicago, the more hard core supporter of Obama you are, the uglier you are. So when I walked to get off the bus, since the guy was in the back and I did not get a good look at this "bush ate my baby" fellow the first time, I looked him up. Lo and behold, he had glassses, 25lbs overweight and a bad haircut. He was the spitting image of Michael Moore in kakie pants and a white shirt that had started to turn yellow around the edges.

What does this mean?? I guess nothing really.. Just random observations I noticed on the bus. Being a person who thinks that Bush is not the problem to everything, e.g., "Bush did not eat your baby", it did make me feel better though..

Oh yea, I will not go see "W"..

You're an idiot. Hayden Panittiere (sp?) is an avid Obama supporter, and she's pretty damn hot. 😛

Maybe its just Obama supporters in Chicago are "not so attractive"... Just an unscientific observation of supporters in chicago. Obviously, there will be attractive people on both political spectrum ... but on average, according to my observations living in the city, the more hard core you are about Obama, the less attractive the person. IRL of course 🙂

ps. sometimes these hardcore obama supporters remind me of feminist who don't shave, never get married and only takes showers every two weeks - not to mention the unibrow. At least that's my impression in chicago.
