Another killer card!

Meh, I never really understood why people would want those, get a decent upgrade like surround sound, more ram, or better video for the money.

There are certain advantages to a TCP Offload Engine (what this card is), but gaming will not make use of any of them.

They wanted to loan me one and have me write a review . I told them that I don't think that would be a good idea since the review would not favor the cost .

then why is it being made? if its super expensive and does nothing how do they sell enough of them to stay in business?

People, especially gamers, will buy anything you sell them as long as they believe it makes them play better.

Nothing but pure marketing like most everything else.

I have very fast Broadband connection.

This is a trace from my computer through a Router to a fast Server.

Where the Killer suppose to help?

May be on the 0 ms between my computer and the Router?

Great it would be negative number. I.e., I can be ?Back into the Future?.

short answer, no. effective QoS on your router will help more than anything.

As much as I believe this card is junk for the money, Anandtech reviewed it and basically said while the numbers prove nothing positive, the "feel" of any given multiplayer game is affected in that it performs and reacts more smoothly while playing online. Who knows, but reading anything positive about it, especially an AT review, was the last thing I expected.

Actually, if you want it to be real QoS, it should be end to end. It won't matter how you tag it at the router. Once it leaves your router, its at the mercy of the internet.

So they are selling a useful product, but they are liars.

Quote:
# Optimizes and speeds network operations
# Prioritizes game network traffic to ensure game data is always injected into the game the instant it arrives.
# Offloads packet processing for latency intensive applications, like VoIP, to provide clear and clean communications
# Frees up the CPU to do more game logic and other computations.

End of Quote.

I would not say a word if the above was simply replaced on their Data Sheets with.

"It does improve technical performance but the "feel" of any given multiplayer game is affected in that it performs and reacts more smoothly while playing online".

and? were talking SOHO here...i highly doubt the OP has MPLS/private circuits that can facilitate end-to-end signaling.

i was simply referring to expediting voice packet from his router queues to minimize delay and tail drop. in this type of environment, that's all you have...

This.

It will not make latency perceptively less.

Same reasons people buy Bose, even after the rep shows them a better system for less $$$, I surmise.
