another hdd partition question

Well right now I will only putting windows/installed programs on the WD6400AAKS drive since its my fastest drive, with my 500gb drives for storage. I have the entire 640gb drive partitioned atm, but I am able to shrink the partition (somewhere i read that short stroking a hdd will reduce access times). Should I just leave it @ 596.17gb partitioned, or should i shrink the partition and increase it whenever i need the space? Thanks in advance.

Just leave the partition alone, there's no gains to be had unless you're running a purely synthetic benchmark.

Your hard drive will fill up the outer edges of the platters first anyway, so shrinking the partition isn't going to help you.
