Use this coupon to bring it down to $181 AR: http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=82955137

Wish this had been available before, I would have bought this instead of the SSC edition....

Why? You got a better card for only $10 more...

You can overclock it to higher speeds for free..... plus the other 280 I have for SLI is a standard-clocked edition.

just bought two for sli @ $179/AR in one order and $189/AR in the next - $10 off only worked once... should have made two accounts. damnit.

Watch out: Rebates are generally limit 1 so you might only have AR for one of those too.

how big is a step up from my current 260 to this card?
and why such a big drop in $$$ on this?

Just google "GTX 280 review"; most reviews will compare this card directly with the GTX 260.

As for the price, some are speculating it's a pricing error...others are saying it's because of the new GPUs coming out but it's hard to believe that a $400 card would suddenly drop 50% in price. I don't know what to think! 😕

Newegg has this selling for $320 after rebate and all the eBay prices were around there as well, so $181 is a sweet deal for anybody out there looking to upgrade.

Free copy of Farcry 2 when you purchase

I expect this deal to end soon, I have a 4870 512MB version....but I'm tempted just to buy this and sell it on eBay to make a profit. There could be a reason though why buy.com dropped the prices so much, anybody know of any rumors of new ones coming out? I haven't heard anything on anandtech. If buy.com is doing this, and new video cards are just around the corner, prices will be dropping all over the place.

Well the GTX 285 just came out. I believe EVGA has it listed on their site already. Its just a slightly higher clocked GTX 280 though. (plus 55nm).

stock gtx 285's have the same core speed as 280 ssc (648), but has higher mem speed (2480 vs 2320) due to different GDDR3 modules (2600 vs 280's 2400). Some 280 reviews showed memory o/c'd to almost 2600, but your result may vary.

got confirmation emails - glad i jumped on this, i was still mad for not getting in on a 4850 crossfire deal i found when they were $119 each w/ free ship. That got jumped all over, and then 4850's went back to $150ish...

Also looks like rebate is only good for 1 card per individual. (checked fine print). Funny how newegg's $340 to $320 $20 off MIR for this exact same EVGA SC part number allows 2 per household, and buy.com's only allows 1. pfft.

Still - I nabbed GTX280 sli for about $400. Overall a happy camper today...

Well, I bought one for $201 (plus tax, grrr CA...) and I got the "Thanks for your order" e-mail -- does that confirm I got the deal price?

I sure hope it goes through!
