Shuttle AN35N-Ultra
AMD Athlon XP Barton 2500+ (week 34 😀, unlocked)
2x 256 MB TwinMOS / Winbond CH-5
TT Volcano 12


I just threw all that together + 0,25 more Volt for the CPU + 200 Mhz FSB and I get a 24h Prime95 and memtest86 stable system! 😀 I still have some questions though. Right now my timings are 2.5-3-3-8. Strange thing is that when I set it to 2.5-3-3-11 it's even faster than with 2.5-3-3-8 according to AIDA32 and Sandra benchmark. Is that normal?

When I set it to 2-3-3-8 my system runs all fine but fails the second Prime95 test after 5 hours. The first and the blend test run fine though (12 hours test). Any ideas here? I also tried 2.6 Volts for RAM bu that didn't make any difference. If I set it to 2.5-2-2-8, 2.5-2-2-11 or 2-2-2-8, 2-2-2-11 it will put my BIOS back to fail-safe. Any ideas on the second and third "2"? What do they mean?

My CPU temp is 41 °C at full load with TT Volcano 12 at full speed (very hearable) and 44 °C at half speed (not hearable anymore) along with some Arctic Silver III. I guess that's pretty good, isn't it? Mobo temp is 35°C or 36°C.


I guess I'm gonna test a bit more on higher FSB and the RAM timings and see what I can get out of that combo. 😀

Not as unlucky as me, as my 2500+ won't go over 182 FSB (2.01ghz). It's because of my 8RDA board but less than 3200+ speeds nonetheless 🙂

Yes, it's well-known that higher values can give better throughput on nforce2 boards. I run my 1700+ at 10.5 x 230fsb = 2.4ghz, with memory timings 12-3-3-2.0 with geil pc3500. This is with chipset and dimm voltmods, 1.9v Vcore, and watercooling. With my 9700pro I hit 6000 in 3dmark03.

Those cpu temps are quite low (mobo temps are a bit high). You should be able to overclock farther. Stay in the mid-50s or so and you'll be fine.

The 2nd and 3rd numbers of x-x-x-x are RAS and CAS - column and row access speed. The first letter is clock latency and I forgot what the last one is and I'm too lazy to look it up.

No, lucky would be if you were one of the many people that could get 2.3Ghz using only 1.7-1.75v. It's quite common.

EDIT - oops thought you said lucky not unlucky, lol.

Seems like you have a fair overclock though.:beer:
 
Yep, my unlocked week 13 does 2.3ghz on default, 2.35ghz on 1.725v, 2.43ghz on 1.85v *strictly for benchmarking purposes* It'll be up for grabs shortly so keep watching for it :clock:
 
Maybe I gonna try some more Voltage and push that baby a bit further ... 😀 ... though I guess I'd never torture it with 1.85 V, not even for testing purpose. You know, I like that Barton, don't wanna hurt him 🙂 !!
