well there it is, another highly impressive showing.

they concluded that it had slightly better image quality than the fabulous NEC 20.1 WS monitor, and that for only £30-£50 more than the NEC, the extra features and functionallity made it well worth the extra dough

seemed to cope superbly with HD content, games, photos and general desk top use.

this jus made the desicion between buying the NEC or this samsung.... even harder! i hate choices, i suppose im gonna win which ever way my money goes...

Thanks for the link...I'll have to read up on this later. I do find it hard to believe that it beats the NEC for games given its glossy coating and high contrast mode. I don't think the 215TW's response time is very satisfactory either from the test images I've seen, but it may be fine for some.

well its probably down to user preference, but i do tend to trust what the bit-tech guys say most of the time. they are pretty concise and to the point in their reviews.

they reported no ghosting, and the panel is a true 8bit with 8ms grey to grey

now thats twice as fast as my iiyama here and i dont notice any ghosting what so ever. i might have to try find someone, or a shop where i can go look at both of these myself.

What kind of review is that? Obviously BT has some interest in advertising for Samsung. They don't even mention the panel type for this monitor. Why not use PixPerAn? 8ms G2G would show a ghost. My Acer Ferrari F19 8ms G2G showed 3!!!
1000:1 contrast 25% higher than any other monitor they've looked at. No s**t! What about 20WGX2's 1600:1?

I bought the 215tw a few weeks ago. I love it. I'm very impressed. And this is coming from a CRT.

I had the 215tw and Loved it. I ended up taking it back though because it was 550 plus tax and i figured there wouldnt be much difference between that and a vx2025wm but althought the viewsonic is good it didnt touch the samsung. I miss it but I figure ill hold on to this viewsonic until I can get a 24 or 30.

I freaking LOVE my 215TW - had it for a couple of months now, and LOVE IT! Took a while to find settings to be able to run everything 1680x1050 without slowdown, but a new 7900GT helped that process along! Running my XBox in the component inputs - like buttah!

I've also been looking for a good LCD to get (finally moving from CRT), and am considering the 215TW next time it goes on sale (probably during the back to school sales, or something).

Having only dealt with CRTs in the past, the fixed native resolution aspect of LCDs is something of a drawback IMO. I'm curious how well this monitor scales non-native resolutions? I'm particularly curious about hooking up HD sources to the component or DVI inputs... will the monitor accept and scale those signals?

On a related note, why was 16:10 chosen for the computer widescreen standard? Wouldn't 16:9 have been easier, and more compatible with other widescreen displays? How does this monitor handle having a 16:9 source (like a DVD player, or something) hooked up to it? I'm hoping I'll be able to plug a Gamecube and possibly the Wii in the future into this monitor... will the monitor properly display a 16:9 signal?
