WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Former Rep. Mark Foley's attorney said Tuesday that his client was molested between the ages 13 and 15 by a clergyman.

Foley had represented the West Palm Beach district for 12 years and was seeking re-election until his sudden resignation last week after the disclosure of lurid online communications with teenage congressional pages.

''This is part of his recovery,'' Roth said, declining to identify the clergyman or the church.

Roth also announced for the first time that Foley is gay.

He insisted Foley never had sexual contact with a minor.

what matters was him trying to get in the pants of a 16yr old kid. but i guess thats not to bad. at least the kid was post puberty

16 is legal age in Washington anyway.

That's the age of consent in most states.. http://www.webistry.net/jan/consent.html The "she said she was 18" thing is what they use in movies, stand up comedy, etc, only because it covers every state... but it's only the age of consent for EIGHT states.

No it's not. 18 is the legal age. 16 just means that it's not up to the parents to press charges. At the age of 16, the other person must be at least 60 months older for it to be illegal...and then up to the teenager as to whether or not to press charges.

you sound like you're surprised. i'm not. it doesn't take much to find your way into congress. do what the donors tell you too, and register in the proper party for your district. hell, even a dead guy made it into congress
