It's mind boggling how some gamers are able to overcome sleepiness and hunger and keep on playing.

sorry but these incidents are with people who apparantly have some form of severe mental issues already. You will not convince me that "gaming" itself made this person do that. That Jack Thompson guy will prolly be all over it accusing the gaming industry kills ppl lol

FTA:
"The report said that about 100 other Web surfers left the cafe in fear after witnessing the man's death."

I predict the one's who didn't leave will be next.

Personally I'm not sure if these are even real. None of them ever happen here, and it seems strange that a person would die in a cafe where food and drink are readily available. NTM as someone else pointed out, you would probably pass out long before you died, and then be taken to a hospital or some such.

He was really viewing pro-capitalism websites. The government sends in Jack Bauer-san to take him out, then boots up a game of WoW as a cover :p

Seriously, I dont get it either. The games are fun and all, but you would think your body would shut down before you got to this point to save itself.

Maybe he was a gold farmer, then he would actually have been working himself to death heh.

I know I would pass out loooong before I got close to starving, once I start to get too tired I find it almost impossible to concentrate on playing. Besides that it's not like there aren't places in every games where you can leave the computer without being afraid of dying.

I think they should stop manufacturing cars. It's clearly the cars fault for all the deaths related to car accidents.

Cars aren't the problem, the fault clearly lies with the wheels for allowing a car to move in the first place.

I know people in my guilds that plays 20 hours a day. This is no surprise.

Everytime there's a new MMORPG released, there's a sicko that will play the game 22 hours a day so they can be the first to hit level cap. I'm surprised we don't see more of this in the news.

fixed

Being an idiot is when you get fired from your job because you had to beat Halo 3 the day that it came out.

When you die in your chair, that more than sheer stupidity can explain.

I can't game for more than a few hours in a row. My eyes dry out or something. I probably blink less or something.

There must be hundreds if not thousands of gamers in Asian cafes chain smoking, jazzed up on caffeine, dehydrated, exhausted... find one with a heart condition or a bit of bad health luck, and this is what happens.

Longest gaming clock for me was a 32 hour run on EQ; it was summer and I had little else to do. Of course, I took necessary food and bathroom breaks, and also showered during the middle of it..

Exactly. But it's the heart condition that kills them, not the gaming. They could've just as easily died playing football on a hot afternoon.

Didn't the last story like this end up being that the cafe was drugging the water or some shit and the drug was supressing natural hunger/sleep pains. Or was that a ridiculous rumor.
