Another FW900 or go LCD? 600usd to spend.

Here is my issue. I am planning to get another FW900 due to my cat scratching the screen. I plan to tear off the anti glare and turn this one into a gaming monitor for the wife. However this brings me to a decision.

Do i get another monitor or take the 600usd and get a LCD?

I dont have a 1000usd to spend on a monitor. Space and heat dont bother me but quality does. the 22.5 viewable on the fw900 is perfect for me. I am in school for digital media design and want the monitor to have good color definition. Also needs to be wicked in gaming.

What do you all think?

Well, you know what an FW900 looks like... Head up to Fry's (or whatever you have around you), and take a look at the LCD's. Make sure you have the LCD's running at their native rez and via DVI to get the best image out of them. People on message boards can argue about the merits of LCD vs. CRT ad nauseum, but the only person's opinion that really matters is yours.

Aside from bestbuy i have a semi local microcenter. About the best i will get.

Only issue is that they wont run games for me hehe. Running desktop just about any LCD will look pretty good. It is when you get into gaming and also when your really comparing colors that you notice the issues.

If i could lug up my 92 pound fw900 with me, place it side by side, and compare i would. However that is a major issue overall with me.

My forte isnt FPS but PC rpg and MMORPGS. So i am unsure how the input will matter there. It isnt overall that i dont trust myself but that i wont have all of the tools i really want to test which is why i ask here.

Your point is very valid however. I have looked at some at bestbuy and wasnt impressed overall. Things were sharp but i saw the after glow of fast images on the screen on alot of them, which was maybe a year ago, which turned me off.
