Another Fry's HDD deal Seagate Barracuda 400GB SATA - $80 shipped

I saw this on SD an hour ago. I snagged one up. I thought it was a good deal, even if it might be a 7200.9 drive.

Edit for spelling.

in for 2 on this one - this completes my 5 set of 400GB sata raid for my shared video storage - last time i ordered 3 and they were .10 versions - that was a few months ago

its actually random between .9 and .10, i ordered some 500GB before and they were all SATA 7200.9, and i didn't care, i had one spare .9 and .10 to match for my 4 drive RAID5

$80 shipped no rebates for seagate 5year warranty 400gb sata @.20c/gb is the lowest i've seen frys go on this drive... i wonder if seagate is going to stop making these soon or something. frys seems to want to move them.

Damn, smoking deal, thanks OP. Picking up another to add to the 3 I've already got.

*edit*
Wonder if they got the serial number thing worked out yet.

I've ordered two of these via previous Fry's.com deals and got .10s both time.

All of the drives I saw at the local B&M store were .9s. I would have snatched one up if it was a .10.

From what I gather from reading the thread over at SD is even though it says .9 on the box the actual drive will have .10 on it.
I have one on the way so we shall see.

Actually, the .10 might be louder and run a bit hotter because of the perpendicular technology. The main physical difference is that the 7200.9 uses 3 platters vs 7200.10 using 2x 200GB platters, so it might be a bit quieter.
