I'm sorry if this was a repost.

I searched for the topic could not find it.

Another football player has died this year. He had his inhaler in his hands when he died. I guess he struggled with asthma

The medical examiner refuses to comment whether heat played a roll in his death or what his medical history is.

In any event... I believe this is the 4th player to die this spring. Someone told me this morning that high school player died - I doubt thats the only high school player to die. But if so thats 4 players this year.

Really calling off practice in the heat is not an option - and schools can not just buy indoor practice facilities. My suggestion would be longer/more breaks and more water.

It's as simple as that. 20 some years ago coaches would go whole practices with out water breaks - and players who took them were considered sissies. Now, I'd say if you're not taking water - you're just plain foolish.

Perhaps this will shed some more light on the situation - although it is a great tradgedy to keep losing athletes like this.

The article on espn.com said heat didn't play a role...the temp was 82 with heat index of 87.

Our coach said that this year we won't have 'breaks' but we'll be able to get water any time we need it, which is better than last year, when we could drink ONLY during the breaks.

It was most likely the player's asthma that caused death, not heat-related injuries.
