Another Ebay rant

@#%@#$!!!

It took me a lot of time and effort to take a rally good photo (no reflections) and do a really nice layout for my ebay item. then somebody just did a copy and paste and add a line of note!!

My auction

Copy

this really makes me :| !! Is there any legality to this?

Best solution is to host your own photos and if someone takes the photo, replace it with a 'nicer' one.

it's too bad you had ebay host your image...otherwise, you'd be able to screw with his auction.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. The only thing you can do is put a bigger more obnoxious watermark on it next time. Maybe the RIAA or the MPAA will have some ideas about how to put DRM on your pics.

You might be able to take some kind of legal action against the guy, but it'd be difficult to say the least, not to mention you'd likely never see any real result from it.

What you can do is change the photo real quick to say something like "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!!!" Then change the URL you use in your auction for the photo, leaving him with the modified pic.

That only if they directly link it from yours. If they simply copied the picture, nothing you can do.

Anyways, nothing you can do about this... it happens. And to think that guy has several hundred feed back and doing this crap.

so what?
you're not hosting the pic so theres no loss on your part. It amazes me that people give a crap - unless the guy is stealing your bandwith, what affect does that have on you?

I borrow people description if i'm selling something that's on ebay a lot and if i see someone take mine, its props to me for making it good.

Oh yeah im sure you typed up all the specs yourself too... right. What site did you "steal" that from, huh?

Unless he just saved it and is having eBay host it, which is probably what happens most of the time.

Same here.

Even if I do my own, most of the time I just copy directly from the manufacturer's site and format it a little.

What's the big deal? The other guy apparently isn't stealing your bandwidth. What is he really stealing from you? A picture of a box that anyone could take?

yeah your right, but what gives him the right to copy the picture THAT I TOOK. He could have at least done it himself.

you should e-mail that guy asking to at least change his photo. that's your original photo he took. how lazy can one person be to not be able to go to a website and take like a photo from bestbuy or some computer store?

It is against Ebay policy for him to do that.
You can report him to Ebay HERE .

they will invesigate and if you are proven right, they will end his auction, and give him a warning. But you dont want to leave it too long or the auction will end on it's own and he will get away with it.

You can also to to the main Ebay page and on the right side of the page, there is a link to LIVE HELP where you can 'chat' to someone at Ebay about it.

🙂

Hmm if you had control you could change the picture to goatse and copy the rela picture to a different link.

ok... now he's in trouble.
It would have been ok with me if he fired off an email first to let me know.
