You know, if that 5.3 happened in New York, the entire eastern seaboard would be declared a disaster area and they'd be soliciting federal relief funds. It happens in San Bernedino, and I doubt it'll make the national news.

...anyone remember the 7.0 off the coast near Eureka? Didn't think so. Only reason it got mentioned was because it had a tsunami watch.

California has no risk of breaking off, it is moving East, not west.
Common misconception in about every earthquake discussion :p
