I wouldn't even consider a Kodak digital camera although my wife owns one.

So how come the wife's going back to film from digital RossMAN (is her Kodak that bad?)

She's getting the 35mm camera in addition to her Kodak digicam.

Hmm, just would've thought that a casual snapshooter, once going to digital, wouldn't want to have anything to do with 35mm.

All made with the automatic settings, I will start useing the manual settings as soon as I get used to this camera 100%.

Did you take those photos with a tripod? It doesn't look like you used flash. Those are some sweet ass pics... I'd like to learn how to shoot like that

I did not use a tripod for those pictures (I don't even have one) and just used the automatic settings of the camera. For the close up pictures I used the macro mode and for the lake picture I turned the flash off. So basically I just point & shoot. I actually never made really good pictures with my regular Canon SLR camera because I was always thinking if the shot is worth the developing costs, now I just make one picture after another. It is so much easier to experiment now because this "fear" is gone. :)

oh boy...again....

Myy parents got a Olympus c-720 3MP camera at CC...honestly, after seeing such great prices everywhere, i think they got it way to expensively.

Unfortunately, they want the 1 year of no interest CC or BB offers, but I still see that it was too expensive....

By the way, how valid are the camera prices on those websites. There was a DiImage 7 5+MP for $500...is that ascam or is it true...for such a great deal maybe I could convince htem to get a loan..

What about this Price for the SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-F707 DIGITAL CAMERA is it real too?

I was worrisome before because of their spending but since I noticed they weren't going to listen to me on that...I just want to make sure they get something great

Ones I had In mind before this:

Nikon COolpix 995,885

CYBERSHOT DSC-F707 DIGITAL CAMERA at a website:

In case of the mix up:

What is the best choice for ~$600 at CC or best buy...

and what is the Best Choice elsewhere

Put some shots up from my S404 I got last week. I'm still using it in auto mode, there's a lot it can do. I got it from amazon for $494 w/ a 128MB C/F Card, but, that deal is dead. I've seen a few other deals online, the DPREVIEW.COM site has forums for most brands and good info.

Only thing I don't like about the S404 is the speed of the ZOOM lens, it's very slow to zoom in / out. Otherwise I'm quite happy w/ it. (I don't like the lens cap that's manual either, but, that's not a biggie).

Here's a few pics I took: <LINK>

The helicopter was taken while it was raining, and overcast. Taken from my back porch, at full zoom.

I meant to comment on this. Many of the rediculously cheap places are scams in some form or another. The most popular is to let you place the order then they call back to "verify" your order. After which, if you refuse to buy the accessories they insist you buy, you will never get your camera.

Or you will get the camera, but it will be an open box/damaged item and it'll cost you restocking fee to send it back.

Or you will try and get it serviced under warranty only to find out it's been imported and you don't have warranty coverage on it. (Some manuf. are better than others about this and will honor warranty on non-us bought cameras in the us).

As others have mentioned check out reseller ratings and the various camera review pages for more information on those types of things.

If you do have to buy the camera local, you can at least order the memory media from the internet to save some cash. The B&M stores seem to be way high on 'digital film'. @ Target, Kmart, WalMart a C/F 128MB is about $90...130 (before rebates). Online it's about $50 at most places (before rebates). I hadn't checked CUSA, BestBuy, or Circuit City -- probably a bit more reasonable at those places.

See if Sears has a model you can live with. Find a "rediculously cheap place" that sells the same thing, print out the web page, take it to Sears and they'll price match it. Return the damn thing if it doesn't suit you in every way.

DAMN! Just left Sears after trying to obtain a price match for the DSC-S75. They wouldn't price match the the lowest priced site. They called Chicago to see about doing the match, but it was nixxed. Best I'll be able to do is about $60.00 savings. Not enough for me to jump at this point... DAMN! :frown:

It varies from one store to another and from week to week. I did my whole home theater and camcorder by price matching Sears. Enjoyed the HELL out of that! I even went back with lower prices during the following 30 days and knocked off a few more bucks. Purchased a 1/2" Milwaukee drill the same way. Can't blame them for clamping down, but I was hoping to snag this camera for under $400.00... :(

I expect a full review (or at least mini-review) and some sample pictures within a week Mr. Sony digicam!

Thanks for everyones opinion. I might have a little more money than I initially thought. So I am now looking at the minolta Dimage 7I. It seems to e a pretty decent camera and get good reviews. It does cost right much more, soI'll have to wait and see if I can come up with enough money.

Anymore ideas?

Thanks

Will

Take your pick between Canon and Nikon in the same range and you will be MUCH happier. Everyone seems to be buying Nikon 995s and Canon G2s lately. Personally, I'd go with Canon (check out the S30, S40, G1, G2). ;)

Both cost $300...I originally had the 775 until the mem slot got fux0red up and i had to return it

Both of those cameras have very similar features too

Find a 775. Better yet, let me sway you into a Canon A40! :D (Seriously)
