Nice man. I gotta get off my ass again and loose the rest of the weight I want to. Got thirty pounds to go and a ton of free time, yet I don't do a damn thing about it.

Great job, I think losing the J Crew hat did more for you than the weight loss. 😉

Of course you will find out, keeping the extra pounds off is just as hard if not harder than losing the weight. It really has to be a lifestyle change, not just a diet.

First, I just want to say thank you for the comments. And kick ass work Wingznut. That's a lot of weight to lose bud. Good work! I've PM'd a few people, and hopefully they will find my info helpful to them and their needs. I'm definately willing to help out if I can. I owe it to others who were stuck like I was.

Basically, I stopped eating fast food and also started working out. Prior to starting this lifestyle change it wasn't that I ate too much food. It was that I ate bad food. I only ate twice a day. But, when I did....it was McDonald's for lunch and McDonald's for dinner. Uggghhhhh, what a fvcking mess my diet was.....Sure, I also ate chocolate and what not but only once in awhile. My biggest problem was mentioned above. Not eating enough food that is good for you.

I know people say there is no secret involved in losing weight, and they are right. It's not a secret. I just created a caloric deficit and started cleaning up my diet. That is the key. I don't do atkins, but I don't knock it like many people do. It just wasn't for me. ***Make sure you are burning more calories than you are taking in.****

Someone asked me if my self-confidence has gone up since losing weight. It has...but to an extent. I have always had self confidence, fat or not. I have always felt that I can do what I want, when I want to. That was one of the main reasons I started my diet. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I will say that it is much easier to be more outgoing when you lose weight. You don't have to even think about that aspect of your appearance when approaching women. You just flash that mean look (as in my pic) and they feel forced to come with you. 😀

If I were to put down a few keys to losing weight I would say:

a. Water: drink 1 gallon a day

b. Exercise: I go to the gym 6-7 days a week - I only rode the exercise bike for the first 4 months, for at least 30 minutes a day. If you don't have that much time daily, look into HIIT workouts. They helped me a lot. In the past month, I started to integrate weight training into my routine. Maybe you can start by going 2-3 times a week until you get used to it???

c. Eating 6 times a day. Eating more helps you lose weight quicker. Be sure to clean up your diet and do not eat fast food. I haven't had a bite of fast food in 5 months and I'm still living.

d. No regular sodas. I drink caffeine free diet sodas like a madman. They are my vice. I need to work on this, but I have to take first things first.....

e. Eat at least 10x your bodyweight. So, if you weigh 250lbs, multiply by 10 and eat at least 2,500 calories a day. Some say you should eat 12x your bodyweight. I lost a lot of bodyweight by eating about 7x-8x my weight, but I also lost a lot of muscle. I lost too much weight too quickly, and people were starting to get worried, even though I thought I was okay

f. Don't be embarrassed about getting in the gym if you are overweight. I was, and it almost made me walk right out. Work through it. People respect a fat guy in the gym more than a fat guy at home doing nothing.

g. Eat your vegetables!! Broccoli is a great vegetable to just pound down along with your meal.

h. Stop drinking beer. This was hard for me as I'm used to being out with friends and what not. They understood what the deal was, so after awhile it got easier, but don't give in to drinking beer. If you do, make sure it's Lite.

What is with you about 40x30 pants? 40 inches ain't really that big.....

You must be a stick.

I admire your work... I'm only on my 12th day of hardcore working out...

So far, I've lost 13,090 calories (that's 3.74lbs) by working out (running 2 miles a day and going on cardio machines for at least 40 minutes a day)

I've also cut my diet down to no pop, no sweets, and I only eat 2 times a day (I'm never awake to have breakfast)

Also, make sure you weightlift if you're trying to lose weight.. muscles will burn calories long after you're done working out.

I've taking before pictures... and I'm going to see where I'm at in 6 weeks (I'm almost done with 2 weeks now)

HOLY CRAP dude! Congrats! Glad to see another ATOT'er making a good lifestyle change

Heh. I've actually had a girlfriend the entire time. But, I will admit that girls have been really coming on strong lately. My girlfriend thinks I'm going to leave her since she notices girls looking at me all the time now. Nonetheless, I can say that I don't have to work as hard at meeting girls in my classes now (you can never meet enough hot chics).....

awesome job man!!!

I've been going slowly this summer on my weight loss... Unfortunately for me, ive had 3 cases of tonsilitis and one bad ass cold in a 6 week span, so thats kept me outta the gym for a while...

Im down 6lbs from when i started, but i wanna be down 15 by mid august.... Hopefully i can get back to 100% and get these extra pounds off...

i went the atkins route, i went from around 205 to 159 in like less than 2 months. i went temporalily insane, still am i think. during this period of time. i even came close to requesting proffesional help. note, i am 6 feet all aslo

Paulson... When you miss meals, it slows down your metabolism. And you are missing out on more than calories... You are missing out on nutrition.

There isn't a single nutrition plan around that advises you to skip meals, let alone breakfast.

That's definitely not cool.
why is it not cool?

I figure it's just extra calories anyways...

The idea that fasting or skipping meals regularly is a great way to cleanse the system of impurities, speed metabolism, and encourage weight loss is just another myth, says Sue Ayersman, a certified clinical nutritionist (CCN) at Kronos Optimal Health Centre in Scottsdale, Ariz. "Your body needs a certain amount of calories and nutrients each day for normal function," says Ayersman. "Denying the body of these essential elements throws the system into survival mode, slowing metabolism and encouraging the storage of energy in the form of fat. You have to eat in order to lose weight." Four to six small meals a day is a good way to keep your metabolism humming.

That's almost a pound a day! That is incredibly not healthy.

If you dont want your body to go into starvation mode, you have to be not hungry all day. I didnt say you had to be full, rather not hungry. So, instead of chomping down an entire 12" sub, eat six inches, and save the other 6 for a couple hours down the road.

By this keeps from insulin spikes as well. 2 meals a day means you are going feeling hungry for possibly hours a day, which means your body will store fat as opposed to burning it. To keep it from doing this, you have to let it think that it wont get hungry, thus beginning the fat burning.

WOW man, three years ago I went on a weight loss plan and lost 45 lbs in 3 months, but gained about 25-30 pounds of muscle mass.

I want to get back to where I was, but I don't know how.
