Seems like news stories like these dont really make us bat an eye any more. I have a strange feeling one day we will be sorry, and will then have a whole crowd saying "They told you so!". Given, alot of these are hot air; however, there have been quite a few plots uncovered with suspects taken into custody, so who knows what we dont know?

Al-Qaida predicts Obama's fall by Muslim nation

CAIRO ? Al-Qaida on Tuesday released a new 106-minute long video predicting President Barack Obama's downfall at the hands of the Muslim world.

As in the past, al-Qaida attempted to conflate Obama with his predecessor, George W. Bush, who was widely disliked by Muslims for his invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Many analysts believe that al-Qaida has been alarmed by Obama's comparative popularity in the Middle East, especially following his landmark speech to the Muslim world in Cairo in June.

"America has come in a new, hypocritical face. Smiling at us, but stabbing us with the same dagger that Bush used," said Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri in the message.

Dateline Denver: Terror arrest sparks gov't warning on mass transit

DENVER (AP) - An airport shuttle driver under arrest in Colorado may have been planning with others to detonate backpack bombs on New York City trains in a terrorism plot similar to past attacks on London's and Madrid's mass-transit systems, officials said.

The investigation into the possible terror plot has prompted counterterrorism officials to warn mass-transit systems around the nation to step up patrols.

Two law enforcement officials speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details of the investigation told The Associated Press late Monday that more than a half-dozen individuals were being scrutinized in the alleged plot.

In a statement, the FBI says that "several individuals in the United States, Pakistan and elsewhere" are being investigated.

NEW YORK (CBS) ?

Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the nation about terrorists' desire to attack stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels -- the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York.

In the two bulletins -- sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press -- officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems.

Ya, it seems like those who need to know are doing their Jobs. You don't need to be trying to scare the Public about these things to actually be effective in dealing with Terrorism.

What we DO know is nuclear proliferation continues unchecked throughout the world. One by one the various nations are arming themselves. Iran is next, and their intimacy with terrorism in the region should be a chief concern for all of us.

I know I'm getting numb. I saw Inglourious Basterds last night and barely even flinched at the violence!

Well, theres the crowd that says the Bush administration intentionally ignored warnings about 9/11 for example.

Perhaps. But there will be that crowd. Generally speaking there will be those who say "We ignored the warnings, it was clear as day", "We should have done more, we certainly have enough to warrant concern", and "Oh fuck this really sucks". 95% of people will fall into one of these three groups.

Yes.

I didnt tell you anything. I didnt join this board until 2005.

edit: and for the record, right now Im in the same crowd I was pre-9/11: We should have done more, we certainly have enough to warrant concern. I honestly think we will see a terrorist attack, in the way of a dirty or small nuke, within the borders of the USA in my lifetime.

This isn't news. Guess what? Someday, there will be another terrorist attack. You can't stop small scale attacks, not all of them, ever. Not possible.

But we can't stop all the murders that happen in the US either, and I don't see anyone freaking out about that. We didn't stop the DC sniper from killing people, we didn't stop Columbine, etc, etc, etc.

There are plenty of crazy (and or criminal) people out there that will break the law. What a shock.

So what is your point? Fear-mongering? "I told you so"?

I agree - I think we will too.

To go on a tangent:
I think we're doing the right thing in Afghanistan regarding the 9/11 attacks. While I don't think entering Iraq was correct, once we went in, we needed to finish it and help put it back together in the best way we knew how. Despite our NUMEROUS screw ups in the process, I think both sides can agree that major progress has been made.

Lastly - I think when that nuke DOES happen, you will see us rain down absolute hell on any country that harbored, helped, or made it possible. No invasion, no occupation. Just total and absolute destruction of the people who caused it.

I've always agreed with Israel's response system (not their reasoning, or their actions in how they treated the Palestinians). If someone hits you with rockets, bombs, etc, you hit back 10 times as hard, 10 times as fast, and you don't stop until they are dead.

I hope we follow the same mantra with regards to that. In the mean time, all we can do is empower our intelligence services in the best *constitutional* ways we can, and hope they can keep us safe. I won't live in fear, and if I get nuked, I get nuked.

I'm all for diplomacy, but when someone atttacks you physically - you eradicate them.

I think most intelligent Americans realized pretty soon after 9/11, that there wasn't much they could personally do about terror attacks if they occurred. Right? I mean, what could each of us do except <cough> "remain vigilant?" Nothing. So we go on with our lives and hope that the gov't is doing all they can to prevent them.

Yep - and the lack of coverage over the bungled Al Qaeda investigation in New York (where they had plans to bomb stadiums etc using backpacks) shows gain how dysfunctional the MSM is.

Obama's "peace through vulnerability" protocol will of course get people killed at some point - it's a lock. Iran and Venezuela are sending terrorists over the Mexican border and all Obama does is have DOJ go hassle law enforcement for protecting borders. The day will come when not many people will admit for having voted for this communist hack (look at how Obama defends the dictator wannabe in Honduras - that's all you need to know about the national autoimmune reaction that is Obama).

Dude, STFU already. The MSM has been covering the recent terrorist sting ad nauseum. Every major news site had it front and center over the past few days, you're just too delusional and retarded to realize it.
