George Rodriguez was freed in 2004 after an appeals court found that faulty scientific evidence had been used against him in his 1987 trial. Prosecutors didn't retry him, citing concerns about having the victim -- who had identified Rodriguez as one of her two attackers in a police lineup -- testify again.

Way to go texas, keep up the good job. At least this guy was not on death row like others that have been cleared in texas.

There is a very obvious solution to this - speed up the death row process so that you dont have to go through embarrassing moments like this. Cant release a dead prisoner.

Major thread backfire already started!! major ownage to follow...

victim recognizes the attacker and DNA test fails... WTF... OP should be ashamed to undermine the victim... douchecanoe.

A politician for her personal gains plays the system and you root for them without thinking... what if the victim is attacked again? what will you do?

Texas is a land mass. Its impossible for an inanimate object (soil and trees) to serve on a jury. Do not blame the state, blame the jury.

The citizens of Texas may have sent an innocent man to prison, but mistakes happen.

Our legal system may not be perfect, but its all we have.

Texas doesn't give a fuck.

As long as someone is some how involved in ANY crime, they should all die. Their "logic" being; if you were good, you wouldn't be dead via hanging/electrocution.

Texas most likely already did this in at least one case.

It seems the CITIZENS down there make more mistakes than the national average. Do you think it's because Texans are stupid, or just dishonest?

That "day" happened in 2004? If it happens so often, make a post about a newer reversed conviction.

She sent him to jail for all that time, and they are worried about how she feels? What a fucked up world men live in.

A question to all those who are bashing TX, how do you feel then the liberal douchebag judges in liberal states, free pedobears and they go out and hunt again and again and again... One should be proud to live in a state where pedos would think twice before even approaching any victim knowing, that he /she may die just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That's why DPRK rocks. They don't have those problems there...

Maybe we need better defense attorneys in Texas?

A couple of weeks ago there was a man in Beaumont, Texas that killed his girlfriend. He had served several years in prison for assault and had a rather long criminal record. Some people asked why he was even out of prison to start with

Like I said, our justice system may not be perfect, but its all we have.

I did not deflect, I stated that its better to be a state that convicts people on basis of even a little bit of suspicion than releasing sex offenders and pedos for lack of solid evidence, only to find out that they committed another crime.

Hahahahaaa... so we should just lock people up due to a single witness (that is the main thing that put this guy away).

I saw you rape that little boy. We can't find him as he is scared and hiding but... enjoy your jail time. Good for you?

Yes, coz DNA evidence details are not in the article. His DNA was not found on the crime scene does not mean that he was not there. He might have been as associate or accessory. Crime scene may not have been properly treated, there might be so many reason. You cannot completely rule our the witness can you? why would you? That would discourage people from being witnesses... Were there any circumstantial evidence too? if so, would, DNA have overruled that too? The fraggin politician might have just done that... You cannot use JUST today's technology and standards to overrule 10 year old technology and standards.

So basically, using the same logic that you used to throw out the witness testimony, I am downplaying the DNA bull crap.

I would rather 1,000 guilty men go free then to lock up even one innocent man.
