Do you? The 2015 automatic corvette is faster and gets equal or better gas mileage.

My generation Corvette the manual is faster and better gas mileage so I got it. But for the 2015+ Corvettes the automatic is the superior transmission.

It is completely irrelevant to the reason why people choose manual over automatic that the automatic could be faster in some circumstances. People choose manual because it is a more engaging drive; you have more control of the car and it is more fun.

I don't claim to know everything but I have a rough idea of how they work. Can you please point out the part of my statement that was false?

To go with your PC analogy using an automatic over a manual is like playing Quake 3 with a console controller over a mouse and keyboard.

Its more engaging, buttery, rewarding, etc... is it? Well that's a perfect reason the threadcrap.
How about just STFU and don't even mention it then. The OP bought the car he wants and just so happens the automatic is better than the manual in terms of real measurable stats. Minus the "engaging" part of course. 😀

There is a reason that the VIR video of the Z06 with the utterly nutty time was done with a manual and it isn't because "the automatic is better than the manual". :whiste:

Just stay out of the Off Topic/Politics sections as the blatant racism and bigotry is awful. Had a Mod/Admin tell me it was ok as long as it was not aggressive or directed at one person since it allows people to blow off stem. 🙄
That and if you say anything wrong or bad about the site you get banned as well. Or bring up a product/site that does not pay them.

I stopped posting after that and few times I have been back its even worse now.

There are other Corvette sites that do not cater to those ideals and just stick to Corvettes.

I have to agree with you on that one! Years back, Off Topic was actually the place to be but that has really changed with time. I used to "live" on that forum but now I just check the C4 section a few times a month at most. I will say that we still have some very knowledgeable guys there.

Yea that's pretty much what I do as well. I use to post a lot more there but only pop in the C3 section from time to time. 🙁

The autos are faster in the C7, heck even the first year A6 seems faster and I was surprised by that.

Oh how cute. You think that drag times have something to do with lap times.

LOL - for real.

There are a lot of cars that can be made a lot faster for less money than a stingray if your goal is drag times. This isn't the first time that an automatic has out performed a manual in static start tests (0-60, QM, etc...). It's pretty much the norm with modern automatics vs manuals. Doesn't mean that it's better at the (twisty) track, more fun to drive, better car, etc...

FWIW, my stingray is an M7. There is no bad transmission in the C7... get whatever you want lol. If I lived in an area where I was always in a lot of traffic, I would have gotten the A8 too (not to mention the remote start would be nice).

Not sure if I'd say that. Track rats who got the A6 were kind of screwed. It could only run a half session before overheating. I don't know about the 8 though. I haven't heard of any issues (though a few claims on the Z06 version of some heat issues from pre-release info).

Yeah I mean the current A8 not the A6.

I'd also argue that the super small minority of people who purchased the A6 and are also "track rats" is almost not worth considering. It's a street car first and foremost and both automatics that have been offered will do just fine on the street (unless the engine blows up).

That being said - it's pretty lame that corvette / Chevy touted both the automatic and manual versions of the stingray as being track capable. If they can't run a 20-30 minute session at the track consistently without overheating they aren't "track capable." What is the point of offering a dry sump engine with the automatic if the trans craps out after 10 minutes anyway.

None of the above make the automatic a bad choice for people who are going to drive their C7 on public roads.

Also it should be fairly easy to run pump/lines to the front of the car and put a larger trans cooler in the nose of the car (if you really want to hardcore track the A6/8 and it's giving you fits).

Here's some pictures of my interior w/Kalahari.

Wow. that is really an interesting interior. Very, very nice and bright with clean smooth lines all around. I am not a big fan of the silver on the Steering Wheel and Door but that is a minor thing. Overall it is definitely an interior I would love to ride in.

I raise my Beer to you good, sir. Drive safe.

The silver is actually brushed aluminum so at least it's not plastic. I do wish it was a little darker, but at least they tried to use quality materials.

I'm thinking of either wrapping that silver piece with carbon fiber film, buying an aftermarket carbon fiber piece, or having it painted carbon flash black.

Thoughts?

Think it comes down to personal preference. There seems to be some progress on covering the Z06 logo on the steering wheel and installing it on the base model. Beyond that, I would have to see the options in person to make a call.

Personally, my biggest things to change visually is: wheel gap, grill, splitter and side skirts. The car is just too high right now and looks like a 4x4.

I do have my Z06 grill waiting to go on. I got lazy this weekend and didn't do it. I also have a carbon rear diffuser to match my splitter/side skirts (I figured why the hell not). I do like the flat bottom Z wheel - but I won't get it unless someone figures how to polish off the Z logo (or actually... I could just paint that section too lol).

Too many decisions... but I probably shouldn't buy anything else until the rest of this crap is installed. I also have a turbo swap to do on the Evo... stupid crap is starting to add up... I need some vacation!

I rented a 2015 corvette convertible while at disney world. the car got a ton of looks/comments, and it was viciously fast.

I drive a BMW convertible, but it makes me want to sell it and go for a corvette - the only issue is I've heard strange reliability issues with Corvette/Chevrolet, are they true?

I always loved corvettes. The car is simply stunning and beautiful.

However, I can't afford one and besides where I live with the crappy roads and rough terrain it would be a complete and utter waste of money to buy a car like that if I could afford one.

By contrast, a Jeep wrangler is made to order for me🙂
