ANOTHER Change to the "Today" Page

I've got another thought that would make the "Today" page more efficient and more useful. I often use the "Last 20 posts" area to track recent threads I've been involved in. The is however, horrible redundancy in the way it's done. I get MANY multiple listings of the same threads in that list of 20, so that in fact there may only be 6 or 7 threads there with 2, 3 or more instances of the same thread. What would be better is if this area could be "Last 20 Threads You Posted To" rather than "Last 20 Posts", of which several could be from the same thread.

Anyone else think a change to "Last 20 Threads You've Posted To" would be a better use of the "Today" page space?

I agree.

I have a couple dislikes with the today page. I'd like to be able to invert the subscribed threads and make the most recent threads appear at the top. Also, I'd rather just get one email notification when there is a reply in a thread I'm subscribed to. Most other foumrs work that way.

And the most important change I'd love to see made to the Today page is to put a little link at each subscribed thread that take the user to the first new post in the thread since my last visit. That way if a 500-post thread has a response I can click on that link to take me to the new posts in the thread. That way i'm not clicking through pages in order to get to the end of the thread.

Joe: I agree. I no longer suscribe to threads due to the massive mailbox clutter so I just go to "Today." It may not be possible to modify FuseTalk in that manner though.

That's a truly GREAT idea too!

Wait until you see the "Today Page" in the new FuseTalk. The "Last 20 Posts" section has been renamed "Your Latest Messages" even though they really aren't your latest messages.

It takes all the threads that you have ever posted in that aren't archived and shows the 20 that have been posted to most recently by anyone.

It doesn't matter if you haven't posted to it in a month, if someone else comes along and posts in it then it will be bumped to the top of the list. This makes the feature pretty useless IMO.

"Your Latest Messages" is going to end up looking like this all the time if you happened to have posted in these threads at some point:

Is 1 = 0.9999......

Apparently everyone over at the beta forum likes the new way and it's gonna stay that way in the final release according to Zuni. We'll see soon enough how well it goes over I guess.

aves2k, the feature you've described is a move toward what we are asking for. I imagine that it will show only the 20 most recently posted to threads, which is fine. There are plenty of threads that I only post in once but want to continue to read and track. Sounds like we aren't the only one's to want that feature.

Well that's a good thing because they're all gonna be that way. I personally used the Last 20 Posts to keep up with my most recent threads. I use the subscription feature for threads I want to keep up with long term.

Yeah... actually what I'd REALLY like is what I said earlier... "LAST 20 THREADS"

I definitely agree with you on having just the 20 most recent threads without multiple entries for the same thread. I just want them to be the actual last 20 threads I posted to.

Oh well, I won't lose sleep over it or anything.

Some great ideas in your threads here Joe! Good to see you posting again, and your clear and concise thinking and intelligent posts are refreshing.

I only want the threads I've posted in recently to be updated. That or have an option to switch between the two OR show more than just the last 20
