Holy crap. I was reading a PDF file that was already 18 pages long; then I discover that it's only a summary! Then I found the full version (I think) - 59 pages! Geez....
Perhaps; thing is though, this wasn't a CD-R - this was a "high quality" original CD. 🙁
Plus, the CD's are spinning so fast, I don't know that a little paper with adhesive would do much. Anyone here care to test the theory? 😉
Some CD's have some good copy protection too - Homeworld: Cataclysm is a good example - anything I use to copy it is no good - when the game loads, it checks the disc, realizes it's not an original, and immediately exits. Tried CD-Clone - no good; tried Nero with Raw copying enabled, no good either. I'm getting a Liteon 40x12x48 drive soon; maybe it'll support the correct modes to duplicate any CD.
try going toGameCopyWorld for a no-cd crack. I use them all the time for all the damn annopying games that require I have a CD in the drive. Considering I'm on a dual 1800+ I'm usually ripping and encoding DVDs/CDs at the same time I'm playing a game, so I had to nip that problem in the ass.
Heheh, good point - the drive is pretty much at eye level. I've even read about CD's flying apart so violently that they blasted the front off of the tray and shot out of the drive completely.
I notice something that may have helped contribute to the weakening of the disc - I just took a CD out of the drive, and it is cooking! It's at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit! I understand why it would get hot, as all 4 of my 5.25" bays are used - NeqQ Equalizer, DVD drive, CD-RW drive, and primary HDD (7200rpm) with a heatsink). I just don't see any good way of cooling them all though. There's just no space for air to flow.
