but if UEFI is a big feature for you, I wouldn't count on it happening and would buy one I KNOW will support it.

but the key is it IS UEFI so you can do stuff like boot from >2TB drives

it's just the GUI that's behind

Yeah, I don't think the new vs. old interface really matters at all. These first generation UEFI interfaces seem to be just a fancy BIOS skin anyway.

OP, regarding the monitor, I would stick with something in the 23-24" range unless he is willing to drop $900 on a 27". Those suspiciously cheap ones tend to be fairly trashy.

yeah.

the main thing you really want is the large boot support I would think, and the gigabytes have it

the bios is fine, its not something I wouldnt buy a board over

Ok great. He is undecided on the monitor

He's ok with 23 or 24 inch but needs DVI, HDMI, and speakers in the monitor, it's also going to be used with an xbox. any suggestions? it's hard to find anything exceeding 1080p, grrr..

he will be sticking with the antec 300, asrock board, xfx PSU, hyper 212+, gskill ram, gtx 570, tb black and vertex 2.

edit: asrock board he's sticking with, not gigabyte

Looks like all good choices there. Basically any monitor he will pick with have DVI/HDMI, and even lacking HDMI you can use a cable to convert (DVI and HDMI are the same except HDMI carries sound). I wouldn't even bother with the monitor speakers. Any monitor speakers are going to sound like garbage. You are better off getting something that can switch between 2 audio sources.

 Additionally, you're not going to find any multimedia geared monitors (speakers, etc) with resolutions higher than 1080P because that's the highest resolution that HDMI devices support.

Going above 1920x1200 at all is going to require a significant expenditure.

Hehe yeah I don't see him spending that, mfenn.
Everything has been ordered except for the monitor.
