This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference to a superior.

lol respecting the host country's culture is a bad thing? We shake hands here, I'm sure you'd be foaming mad if a visiting head of state refused to shake Bush's hand because he viewed it as somehow unequal to his stature.

Unfortunately it is.

Here is the reasoning:

When you bow to someone that low you show you are inferior to them. That is the perceived notion that goes on here. Even if the Saudi King or the Japanese person had bowed back, the fact that he bowed low shows to them that their leaders are superior to ours.

You gotta be kidding me right? To show proper respect for other people is nothing to be ashamed of. Rightwing blowhards can't make up their stupid minds. One day is he too arogant and the next he's too soft. Truth is these ****heads are not used to seeing a guy with class. I am not catholic by a long shot, but when I have went to a catholic church I do the same things as others. Its called showing respect.

A sign of respect would be to shake the person hand then bow ONLY low enough to see eye to eye, which he did not do at either time. This is what the Democrats tried to say he did with the Saudi King which was a lie. But hey, to each their own I guess.

I am so horrified that Obama can't beat GWB at being threatening, but then again not every President has Condi Rice as a combo browbeater and bag lady. And if that did not work, there was always Cheney and blackwater.
