I was thinking of doing something very similar a while back, but yet a little different. I wanted to build from scratch a plexiglass desktop style case, and then build a 55-60 gallon tank above and around all sides except the very front. I was planning on putting a handle on the front so I could pull the whole machine out if I needed to, but being made of plexiglass it would be transparent and almost blend into the aquarium. I finally decided that the project would be way to expensive for me and I'd probably screw it up, knowing my dremel skills.
