Have you considered what you would do if you could gather all these lone wolf shooters in one place and you could pull a trigger and they would all be dead?

Many in this topic raise the notion of being under siege, as if there is already an active civil war with Blacks bearing the brunt of it. Surely those so hyped up would readily pull the trigger. Having already "other'ed" a great many people. Once they are the enemy, they are not human, disposable. Your suggestion would be heralded.

Much as I sour on our future prospects, I am in no hurry to get to that point. Where words utterly fail and the only meaning is found at the end of a barrel.

I look at this shooter who killed 3 people, I despise him for what he did. I despise those who helped him get there, who paved the way. Some are pointing to gun control. I point to the organization that borne this killer, his ideology, his hate. He was not born with it, it was a packaged product delivered. Resulting in a corrupt mind. I consider that as much a problem as the gun he fired. Perhaps much worse.

While I do not think our nation, or our people, are mature enough to have this conversation, nevertheless I look to the process of how he was made into the killer that he was.
And I truly hope that, after we walk down our path, that the answer is NOT to simply dispose of the "other" and each other.

What has failed, in my opinion, is not words so much as our deafness to them. Truth, that there is only love, can be heard, but the truth of the words only experienced. We do not want to know why that is.

Part of the problem is that while we believe we want a solution, the actual solution is the last we would ever want. The journey to truth, as myths will tell us, is a journey into hell.

what about other black folks who slaughter way way more than 3 other black folk? why doesn't ATPN ever make posts about them? wonder what that thread title would be....pretty sad that way more than 3 get killed every weekend for the past how many years in Chicago, Baltimore, Phidalephia, etc and not a peeep here but when a white person kills 3 black people, ATPN is up in arms....

I noticed the headlines on CNN,
"DESANTIS LEAVES CAMPAIGN TRAIL AMID CRISIS IN FLORIDA"
And naturally I thought DeSantis was returning to address the shooting in Jacksonville. NOPE! Not the case....
DeSantis is returning to Florida only because of the "weather" in Florida.

It's bad enough when these moronic racist idiots i.e. DeSantis stirs up hate and causes that hate to result in death, yet when people like DeSantis are confronted about this they pull the pussy excuse. They refuse to admit to what they have enabled. Oh sure, people like DeSantis have no problems with stirring up these mass shooters into a frenzy, but after the death count is finished they pretend like they are as shocked as everyone else.

America, we can not allow people like this to ever become president. And Floridians, you could vote to kick the guy out of office. Or at least protest DeSantis into obscurity. It is more Floridians problem than that of DeSantis because YOU Floridians could do something about it. Or, are Floridians going to pussy out too, just like the governor?

They hate themselves and can't bear the pain of it believing that they are so worthless they deserve to be hated. They act out because the only way out of their pain is to relive it and they fight desperately to avoid that so they act it out vicariously against someone they tell themselves is the real cause of their pain. This is a psychological paradox that only enlightenment can illuminate. We believe exactly that which we deny. and only the knowledge of what we deny can save us.

I don't think most people even know it's there. They always say, "I was not myself." I think that monster is actually the manifestation of a deeply held but unconscious belief, the one we fear to challenge because we feel we would fail. But to become it is also to see it's a lie a feeling we were made to accept as children in order to be accepted.

The vast majority of mass shooters stop on their own. I've always assuming that the reality of killing people is much different than the fantasy of killing people in their heads.

So it's a numbers game for you? I also see you go back to the right wing trope "what about Chicago?"

A couple of things you need to take note of. I had the same reaction with the following...

Pittsburgh synagogue (only 11)
Charlottesville (only 1)
Charleston (only 9)
Buffalo (only 10)
El Paso (only 23)

My reaction was the same for all these events. Domestic terrorism perpetrated by white nationalists. Black people killed, Jewish people killed, Hispanic people killed, and wait for it, white people killed. Do the numbers need to reach Holocaust levels for you to deem domestic terrorism by white nationalists an issue? By your response I assume you don't give a damn. You want to reduce these incidents to random crime so you can ignore the issue of domestic terrorism.

Four of the above have the additional problem of access to guns which should never have been issued to the murderers.

Could say similar about Abbott in Texas, who's equally enabled racist hate in tandem with unbridled gun-toting. How long has he been in the Governor's Mansion?
 
Florida man had documented history of mental illness including institutionalization. But Republicans and their SCOTUS ayatollahs made it so that he could buy assault rifle and body armor legally. And planted racial grievance and hate. Now washing their hands of it.
 
I saw where Desantis got booed at a vigil for this.

Gee, who knew that trying to whitewash slavery, getting rid of diversity programs and generally doing every bigoted thing you can manage to push through with your pet legislature would not endear you to the black community. It's positively baffling. Booing is far less than that stain deserves.

what does that have to do with anything? gang violence is socio-economic violence, not hate crimes perpetrated by the right wing conservative verbal war on minorities and gays, etc....and nobody said people don't care. In fact the Dems are the only party trying to stave this type of violence, by being the only party trying to work on wealth inequality, the gun problem, etc...

these are two totally different things, and it is nonsense to compare them in the same breath.
