Watching that poor man's face in the pics makes me angry and disgusted, just picturing the beheading makes me shiver. Its described as slowly cutting the head off ... dont wanna get into detail too much ...
I didnt say all muslims are for this, but a great number of them are. A great number doesnt mean a majority of them. Even if its %5, its probably higher, then its still a huge number considering Islam may or may not be the biggest religion in the world

My question in all this is..... those Americans that are in Iraq, they must know what happened to Nick Berg and the like. Why would you go peacefully when terrorists come to take you? Personally, I'd want to go down fighting.

I think the difference with those events is that most people agree they were wrong, and we strive not to have them reoccur. Native Americans, Inquisition, Crusades, were all from a time period which many would argue was before we truly became 'civilized' or 'modern' societies.
WWI and WWII were arguably caused by Europe's inability to deal with radicals before they got out of hand. Sound familiar?
Cold War.. not sure how many people died directly because of it, but the fact that communism has basically collapsed in the former Soviet Union, and the people don't seem to be in favor of it, tells me again that people let something get out of control and corrupted.
But this has nothing to do with the topic at hand.. pointing out the flaws of generations past has nothing to do with the flaws of CURRENT people. Most of the people involved in the events you point out have moved away from thinking that things like the Holocaust and the Crusades were a good idea.. Islam in many respects has not. They are still in the 'Believe us or die' type of mode.

Islam has the same tenets as Judaism and Christanity. There are commands not to kill innocent human beings, not to harm individuals for actions of groups, etc etc. When McVeigh bombed OK, did we rush to generalize all Christians as such? When Hitler killed 12 million "others" in the name of eugenics and Christianity, did we generalize his actions to the whole of Christainity. The answer is a resounding NO. However, when a single group of "muslims" commit atrocities, we are quick to generalize their actions as being representative of the group as a whole, and condemning a religion to barbarism.
First off, Islamic society is the way it is right now because of Western interventions. Despots, such as our hated Saddam Hussein, were propped up and supported throughout the modern history of the Middle East. Remember, Saddam was thrust into power because we need a hegemony in the ME. When he gassed his people, we looked the other way, in fact we didn't care as long as he continued his ruinous war against Iran, whos Western leader was overthrown in a (much needed) revolution. He learned the gruesome trade of torture from the British and got his materials from there as well. This story is repeated ad nausum throughout the ME. Despots usually stay in power by subjugating their peoples. Look at the history of nearly every dictorial country. Cambodia (pol pot), Vietnam (Ho chi Minh), Soviet Russia (the gulags setup by Stalin), China under Mao Tse Tung, etc etc etc. The ME is no different. However, our media has done a tremoundous job of alienating those peoples (arabs) into being a vicious pack of animals, when the opposite is true. They are just as compassionate and as human as the rest of us. However, hearing that will undermine the fear-mongering set in place by the Administration and the Media.

This argument is pretty typical of Islamic apologists who never choose to blame themselves.
*Always* blame someone else for your problems and failings. It makes for good press, and shifts attention away from the fact that Islam is useless and does nothing to improve the human condition.
The people who do these things are not human beings, and do not deserve to be treated as such. And those in the Islamic world who do nothing whatsoever to try to stop it are the same themselves.
