DAMN - mikewarrior2, why didn't you make those tests BEFORE I bought my cooler.....

I know not your fault but does anyone have a good idea what kind of cooling setup I should get instead? I'm thinking of watercooling without peltiers, instead I'm thinking of having the watertank inside a fridge.

This is for my Duron 650@1050. Although when running RC5 I cannot run it faster than 900 since I get too hot temps... @900 and 1.775V the temp stays below 60C. The highest I've had so far is 65, at that point I clocked the bastard down to 900. Right now I'ts at 57C and not going higher.

And, also, as a result of the watercooling I hope to make my computer more quiet since I run it 24/7 in my 12 square metre room. So a FOP 32/38 would be a little too noisy I think..

Suggestions please, I don't want to burn my little darling !!!!

Another Sorb finds its rightful place on the shelf. Just got the watercooling running without any fans. Even shut down the blorb because it was making too much racket. I have mounted two slow 120's in the case but I wont wire them up without rheostats. Closed case, 4x11 tranny rad, and a junky pump yields 40c for a DooRon 650@1000 1.7V.

Honestly, the Sorb served me pretty well and once it was lapped (no small feat) it performed just like you would expect a new to market 21 dollar sink would. Lets see what kind of wattage the Morgans put out. It might have life yet. But hopefully by then I'll have a full immersion set up that will be 100% passive. I highly recommend watercooling and I honestly haven't seen many reports of catastophic results. Just take your time and use good fitting stuff. No Duct Tape and Silicone well maybe a little. That new Danger den block looks real nice and I can tell you that the mobo hole mount with springs and nuts is just awesome and elegant.

It is an Antec case sx1030 and mounted the rad vertically on 3 inch machine screws on the back side. The rad sits suspended over the stock dual snapin exhaust fan outlets. The rad is in the slip stream of the exhaust air but for the first couple of days I didn't even have the fans in. I just installed them to see the difference. The are pretty low performance but help keep the case cool and are ultra quiet (actually changes the frequency of the drive noise which is a faint squeak so I may keep them in). They don't contribute much to rad cooling but the pump I'm using is fairly feeble and I expect much better temps when I get some flow. But like I said earlier it runs fine with no forced air on the rad... With no fans at all. Just sitting out there in space. The reason I did it this way is I only wanted two connections in the case that could fail. I'm a newbie to this so I was cautious. If I can find a decent quiet inline pump, I'll lose the resevoir on top of the case and move everything inside. Don't want to cost you any money but watrcooling is the way to go. Peltier water chiller is next. Then move a Peltier to the CPU at upgrade time.

Mother fvcking pos. I just bought a Thermaltake Super Orb and it came in today. I was planning on using it for my Thunderbird 1.0ghz, but while mounting it on the chipset I had to slightly bend one of the capicitators on my A7M266 mainboard and basically slam it down on my mainboard.

Damnit, now I'm going to have to return this sucker. Hopefully the return department doesn't cause me any trouble while I return the order.
