Another $499.99 notebook Compaq Presario 2200

If you still need a $500 notebook -

Office Depot has the Compaq Presario 2200 for $499.99 AR ($30, $100, $100). If your OD takes competitor's coupons (one of mine does), you can bring it down more. I recently got a $40 off $200 OfficeMax in snail mail. You have to go to the store and configure it.

I purchased this notebook in Nov. and have already gotten one of the rebates and the others have all been approved. I haven't gotten to play with it much, so no opinion here on performance. Sorry.

The Celeron M 350 is Dothan based, and has 1MB of cache. This is a very fast notebook.

Staples, OfficeMax, Office Depot for starters. Maybe any for other local competitors you might have. Staples sends email coupons for $15 off $75, $20 off $100, etc, frequently and, as I said, I got an OfficeMax for $40 off $200 in the regular mail. You can look for printable ones at any search engine, although most stores are going to one-time use numbers that will be invalid if already used.
