Damn!
I didnt know Amazon hosted other sites as well. Thats some serious shit right there.
Fuck Anon. Anytime something happens they dont like they destroy things. Thats something most people get rid of when they move out of the toddler stage.

Yeah, that's kind of my thoughts on this as well. Their mentally is similar to that of a psychopath - "my point of view is correct and I won't stop at hurting other people to show that"

Consider for a second that Amazon site went down for 3-4 days, and this resulted in millions of damage to Amazon and its employees. Essentially, Anon would've caused a lot of hardship to Amazon employees and customers over their ideology. That's the same mind-set terrorists have: "My believes are better than yours and I will kill you to show that"

Exactly. I do not think those guys realize the damage this can cause. Yeah, it's school boy antics, but they are also gonna respond like little school boys too.

What's amusing is that these script kiddies and parent-basement dwellers are ones that say information should be "free" only because they want to pirate it. The second they have a novel idea they want to copyright it.

They are naifs who really have no lives at all and have limited commercial abilities or motivational reserves.

They're like rioters and looters. They aren't doing anything for society, they're just looking for an excuse to smash or steal stuff.

This is childish and retarded for sure, but all those crying that a bunch of little wannabe hackers in Australia "jeopardized our troops" is just as laughable. Tell me how a memo of Hilary Clinton calling the Italian prime minister fat (or whatever it was) did anything more than get our great omniscient country caught with our pants down.

am i the only one who finds it disconcerting that multiple online payment portals are refusing to transfer funds to wikileaks?

i wonder what could have convinced these businesses that are in business to turn a profit to suddenly decide that wikileaks no longer deserves donations? could it be some government pressure?

You are over-thinking it...it is about the money. Christmas is around the corner and Amazon is wise enough understand that losing a few dollars from those that support wikileaks is nothing to the amount of money they could potentially lose from those opposed to wikileaks within the next couple of weeks.

Nope. In fact, the only thing I'm mad about at Amazon is that the international Kindle is on backorder for 7-8 weeks last I checked. So now I will have to wait a while before I can send them more buckets of money.

Cry some more.

New version is likely coming soon, then. This has happened prior to every new model release.

If you can't see past the immediate first-order effects, then you're a naif.

As an Amazon prime customer that spends ~$500 a month on Amazon, if they hadn't dropped Wikileaks I would not have been happy.

There's a reason Amazon is known for having the most stable CDN on the internet. No one could take that site down with simple DDOS. There are maybe a handful of people in the world with access to enough computing power and network bandwidth to do real damage to Amazon.

I don't think so. The new Kindle 3 came out no more than four months ago. I think that they just set aside the vast majority of the Kindles to be shipped only to the US for the coming Christmas holiday.

Meh, I only worked on the Kindle team for three years. Every previous time when the device was out of stock, the new model dropped shortly thereafter. Doesn't matter anyway; the wi-fi only model at the co.uk site is taking 4-7 extra days, not weeks.

The US and UK are the only exceptions I can find. If you choose say Germany you'll see that the delivery times are 5-7 weeks.

I like the new thing they're doing. They call it Operation Leakspin. They're basically researching the leaked cables, finding things worthy of sharing that haven't been brought into to the limelight yet, and making short 1-2 minutes youtube videos to explain the cable.

What effects? Showing everyone that America has its faults and isn't as god-like as we're taught to believe? OH SHI--
