Annoying video problems

Hello,

I am having problems with the video playback on my computer. When i play a video through WMP i get weird green, red, greyish streaks across the screen. Now i can fix this if i turn off all hardware acceleration but then the video playback is choppy and distracting.

I am using WMP10, and i have used 11 to see and i get the same problem.

My system is as follows

E6600
p5b
7600gt from BFG
2gigs of ram
320gig seagate hdd
lite on DVDRW
LG dvd

I have re-installed windows and the problem persists, is it the motherboard? is it drivers? what can i do to fix this.

I have tried the video card on a p5w and it did not have any problems with displaying video.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Does it do this for all videos you try to watch? DVDs? AVIs? MPEGs? DiVX? I think I know what you are talking about but you worded it like it does this for all videos, I've seen this happen but only for AVIs. If this is happening for all videos I would look into a problem with your videocard or drivers. If it is only a certain type of video can you post which codecs you experience this with? Right click on the file and go to properties, the last tab in Simple view sometimes has the codec used. I would try using another media player also to see if that solves it. I use MediaLAN (I think that's it, not at my computer right now). That player plays every codec/DVD I've thrown at it, even copyright protected DVDs and movies. It'll play all forms of DiVX and even play the movies that come up "green" on WMP10.

i tried what u said sisqo and it didnt change anything.

Kujoe ill try that player, although i would prefer to use WMP, if it works ill be happy.

Kujoe, are u talking about VLC media player? because i cant find a Media Lan, and if u are talking about VLC , i already use it..... and i get a different problem with that, instead of no colour, everything is DARK.

I had this exact problem when trying to play .wmv movies through WMP.

As you said turning WMV acceleration off fixes this problem, but that doesnt really properly fix the problem.

Very annoying to say the least.

I havent, I just leave wmv acceleration off, that's why I'm interested in this thread.

This never happened on any of my Nvidia cards, but its bad on the XTX. Also, changing drivers and reformatting do not fix this problem.

ah i see,

Yeah..... reformatting did absolutely nothing, neither has the driver switching.

Strange thing is everything worked perfectly video wise when i had a p5w but there were other problems....... now everything works good cept the video with this p5b.

Annoying as hell.

Try converting the videos to a different format/codec. That's the only thing I can think of. WMP dislikes certain codecs for some reason, I've never had a problem with VLC Media Player (made by VideoLAN). Good luck!
