I have a home theater system connected to an SB Extigy connected to a computer. I'm using A/V cables from the back of the receiver to connect to the line-out of the Extigy (It is a Y adapter A/V cable with a 1/8" stereo jack). Everything seems to work except when I play dvds, I hear this annoying static in the background. When I max the volume on mp3s, it is perfect, there is no static whatsoever. However when I play dvds, even at low volume and the bass and treble adjusted to low settings, static still persists. Anyone know what's wrong? TIA.

Edit: Just a clarification, I am playing dvds from the computer's dvd drive.

If it happens when playing from one drive, and not the other, chances are it's the drive causing the problem. Try swapping the DVD player and see if the problem continues.

It's a laptop :(

weird...what happens if you play an audio cd in that dvd drive?

I tried playing an audio cd in the dvd drive and a cd-rom drive in the other bay. Both drives give off static :(

Is there a solution to this problem?
