annoying problem with winamp

up until late tonite, i thought CDEX was flawed and adding jitters to my mp3s... but upon close inspection its the way cd was made, first few seconds of a following track was 'clipped in' the preceding track. this combined with a brief silence between the songs in winamp makes it sound like a jitter/skip. anyway to make winamp play songs continuously?

Try downgrading to an earlier version of WinAmp. More people have reported similar problems while using Winamp version 2.74 and up.

The newer versions of Winamp (say 2.6 and higher) have the best sound quality. Older versions had a flaw in their mpeg decoder that added serious distortion around 100Hz. Search around the Winamp site, supposedly there is a "gapless output" plugin that eliminates the silence between songs. Haven't seen it or tried it myself, though.

<< hmm.. i think sonique got the best decoder and the best sound quality out of all the mp3 player.. >>

You can think what you want but there is no basis in facts for that conclusion. Winamp provides error-free decoding. What else do you want? Decoding is not nearly as complicated as encoding.

I also tried that gapless output plugin and it still leaves a very short gap in between songs, but much better than without it. Using Winamp 2.76, BTW.

Winamp 2.75 works great for me.

No skipping whatsoever...

Winamp really can't fix a bad rip. Sorry to say.
