What the f\/ck is up with these people you meet who feel the need to tell you their life-story and all their problems the first time you meet them.

"Hi, nice to meet you."

"You to. Can you believe what this guy I work with was trying to tell my boss. He was taking credit for work I had done. And then I hurt my wrist. See theres a scar here. Like this one time back in 1980, blah, blah, blah."

I'm thinking, "Holy sh1t, tell someone who cares. You think you're the only one who has problems. Anyways, what makes you think, I, who having just met you, gives 2 sh1ts about your problem."

Also does anybody else hate it when people make you repeat yourself, EVERY time you talk to them?

Me: So what are you doing for lunch?
Personx: HUH?
Me: Nevermind.

Sorry, I just needed to vent a bit.

"Hey, guy! I'm just trying to be friendly and make small talk. Blah Blah Blah. Some people are friendly some are not. Die in a fire."

I'd like to but it's hard to do anything but grin and bear it when it's one of your co-workers. The thing is, you have to remember to not say a SINGLE word once they start doing this, because it will just encourage them and add fuel to their autobiographical tirade. Eventually they will lose steam and the stop talking of their own.

Sometimes its good to know whats the atmosphere in your workplace especially if you're new. You want to know who's the good coworkers and those who will try to take advantage of you and take credit for it. Always adapt to your surroundings or you will end up quitting.

Try to be more social. Obviously that person took your amazed stare that anyone would talk to you as a sign you wanted to converse. Your social skills are lacking.
