That's true, thanks for that, I should give it a shot. I AM perennially single, with heaps of close female friends. Dunno why, but I struggle being dominant and masculine in conversation...but maybe now it's time to practise thru work lol. Hopefully I don't get a sexual harassment case though :-/ ;)

I think you are safe. Very safe from a harassment case.

In fact, my prediction is that at the first sign of flirty talk...you run back to the cubicle and post on OT.

To be honest I wouldn't say anything except "hello" and "goodbye." You have to watch what you say to women coworkers. They have the power and they can make your life a living hell. Just saying "you look nice today" can land you in hot water.

Be quiet and work hard.

OP, it seems to me like you are more of a drama queen than they are. Why are you getting into conversations with them about jackets...and are asking for price.

Who gives a shit?

Hate to say it OP - but you are being a dick in the "Work environment" sense. I'm not saying I agree with it - but if you want to stay a good boy in the eye's of the workforce *cough*advancement*cough* I would advise against doing some of that shit.

In particular, I would equate asking how much someone paid for a fancy jacket to asking how much they are paid. It's just something you shouldn't ask unless they are a close friend.

How do you tell what a close friend is? It's someone that you can go down to the bar with a have a few drinks while talking shit about others.

Here's my assessment. You're in a pretty good place. All these women like you, believe it or not, because if they didn't they wouldn't talk to you. The mouthiness is how women sometimes think they are being funny. If you're an introvert like me, it can be tiresome, when you "just want to do your job."

You can probably pretty easily get yourself into the meetings by being aggressive about being involved. Figure out a few good reasons and stick to them. It might take a while before they start automatically including you, but some polite attitude should get you passed the locked doors, if you're supposed to be there.

OP, you sound like you may mean well, but are completely socially awkward. Who asks someone how much their clothing costs? And who says "yesterday's looked nicer."?

It's impressive that even with only your side of the story it still looks like the problem is you.

this. I just spent a few minutes of my life at work reading that first post and there isn't a problem there at all. Its just a bunch of words, no problem to be solved. You are socially awkward like a lot of people on this forum.

OP, you should assert you manliness on this place.

Drive a large pick up truck with a gun rack on the back window. Wear a HUGE belt buckle. Grow out a massive beard. Get some tattoos of nakes chicks on your forearms. And, slap these ladies on the ass from time to time,.. they'll thank you for it.

I do. But I'm the opposite of the OP. I get along better with chicks than guys. I was raised by women so I am completely comfortable and they seem to know it. Of course sometimes it gets me in trouble when random people hear it.

Every get pulled into HR because someone overheard you telling a girl "your tits look great today"? I have. When the pulled the chick in, she didn't even remember it since it was pretty much an everyday thing. Some other person heard it and was offended for the chick.

There is probably a good chance you don't sound like a complete creeper when you say it, which I'm sure the OP does.

But the problem is that they play the female card against me subtly. If one co-worker gets a new jacket, the other one will go "OH, that's so amazing". And I'll be like "Yeah, it's pretty decent, how much did you get it for?". And then the chick who had the jacket gets hurt because she doesn't want to answer, and the other one playfully goes 'hey you should never ask those questions to a lady". Fuck that. I've been in the team for 1.5 years, get along well with everyone, they know I'm nice to them so I shouldn't have to do all these niceties just because they are female. It's a work environment.

The next day the chick wears a different jacket. And the co-worker goes again "this is amazing too". I'm like "yeah its not bad, but yesterdays was better. but that's compliment as to how good yesterday's was". Yet they say I gave them a "backhander" and insulted her. WTF man...

Then the other day, one of the chicks says she's going to dye her hair a bit. She's a blonde. So I go, you should dye it brunettes cause dark hair is really classy. They go "oh so I'm not classy???".

Do you not know how to STFU? if I worked with women like this, I wouldn't give my true opinion at all. Everything is nice, everything looks great on you and everything is an improvement over yesterday.

for real

OP, it's more important to be nice than it is to be right (or honest).

Stop talking to these women, just focus on work > GTFO

Been there. It doesn't get any better. I just learned to grow a bitter shell around me that I take off when I go home ;)
