I played the demo earlier today. It plays a lot like 1404, it pretty much feels like the same game, just with a different settings, different resources, etc. This isn't a bad thing.

The demo didn't explain things too well. For example it tells me to build a basalt crusher, but I don't know where to build it. It says it requires certain raw materials, but I don't see them anywhere, and when I place the crusher, it just sits at 35% production but doesn't actually produce anything.

Good, I hope they didn't change much at all. Anno 1404 was almost perfect, I'd hate for them to screw up a good thing.

I really liked Dawn of Discovery too, and the demo was not bad. Although it didn't seem like it brought much new to the table except the need to balance your relations between two factions. You also don't get to see the underwater cities, but I'm assuming their basically this game's version of the Orient cities.

Too bad it's Ubisoft though. I really do not want to support them and their terrible policies and deceitful tactics by buying a game they publish.

Haven't played much, but it's a lot like the other anno games, except in the future. Which is to be expected, since all the other anno games played virtually the same.

I really wish they allowed people to mod this game, so many possibilities. I'd love to see an Anno game based in the 1800's with railroads. I think that would be pretty cool.

The demo was pretty short, but it was impressive enough to sell me on the game. The only time I got a little confused was when you has to build the distillery and rice fields in mission 2. I didn't realize you had to click on the distillery itself to build the fields. I was also confused about the lack of fertility on the island for rice, but then you get rice seeds after. I actually figured it out by watching a German YouYube video, and watching what he was doing, LOL.

I wish it was on Steam though. Why not? Other UBI games are, like HoMM6 which I just bought. I guess there was some dust up between Steam and UBI about not wanting to automatically update Anno, so 1404 (DoD) never got updated with the latest patch, but that's all I know.

Just released on Steam. Doesn't have Ubisoft DRM at least :) , though it has Tages 3 machine limit :(

Virtually every Tages game I've played had an uninstaller that when properly used would release the activation. I'd look into it if your worried about it.

Yeah, I'm waiting for some user info first. This is one game I want to buy soon, but due to Skyrim/Saints Row 3/Batman AC alone I might have to wait a little bit till I regain some of my life lol :(

Careful guys, there are widely reported issues with the digital downloads at the moment, from all the vendors. Something about not being able to register or what not.

You can see some gripes here: http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/3231027629

I'm going to wait until they resolve these issues. Some people have gotten their game and are able to play but some cannot, even if you got it from Steam.

I've seriously never played a city builder since Sim City 4 but I historically really like the genre. Loved every Sim City game and really enjoyed Caesar III. Is the Anno series for me? This game looks great.

Looks Ubisoft has gone back to using the "classic" 3-machine activation limit. The same one that nearly ruined EA a couple years ago during the Spore debacle. They've dumped Securom for Tages Solidshield. Any game I see on Steam that has 3rd party DRM is an automatic no buy.

Ya I won't even be thinking about this game for a while. I've got too many games to play first (Skyrim, BF3, Batman, AC4, SR3, MW3). It would have been nice if this game released a month ago, when I didn't really have any games to play.

Yeah, steamworks is what they should be using.

Should I buy this if I have 1404? A lot of people are saying it's the same thing as 1404 (apart from the change in setting).
