Lets say our government decided to give Mexico an ultimatum...

"Stop illegal crossing from your side, or we shall incorporate Mexico into the United States, dissolve the current government, and make it a new State of Old Mexico."

Then we'd all be complaining about the damn Guatamalians jumping the boarder and stealing all of the Mexican-American's jobs.
 
Why? All that would happen is that we'd be pissed about all of the indigenous peoples of Central and South America illegally crossing into Chiapas (which, yes, is currently a big problem in Mexico).

Just grab everything between Texas and the Darien Gap. Arrest anyone who manages to cross that since they won't be in much of a condition to run anywhere.

I say we put up a wall like in that one movie, which title completely escapes me. With the killer automated turrets that obliterate anything moving.

What's the name of that movie where the girl has to go in and find a cure to the disease that makes you go nuts? She has to get in and out in like 48 hours or something. There is a group of ultra violent punks in the quarantine zone they have to fight.
 
We already took the parts of Mexico we wanted back in 1848 and passed on the rest. Well, except for the Gadsden Purchase which we picked up in 1854 to build a railroad. Leave well enough alone.
 
Well, if we could actually succeed at cleaning up all the corruption there, it would be a great move. But, we have so much corruption in our own government, I don't trust the US government worth a damn to clean up Mexico.

What Mexico needs is a real civil war, something to overthrow the existing government, and institute a new one. Hopefully a system somewhat similar to our own.

I have a better plan. We trade. We get Baja and Sonora. Mexico gets Texas east of the Pecos. If the Mexicans push hard we give them Oklahoma as well.

Shit, I voted wrong. I voted to annex them instead of dump a bunch of money into keeping them the f0ck out. Get out! I want a huge concrete wall along our borders with razor wire and snipers.
