The tale of Anne Frank was depressing indeed, but they really need to stop shoving these holocaust books down the throats of school children> I must have read at least 4 or 5 different tales of young people going through concentration camp hell, and the first or second story were admittedly very depressing. After that, though, I just became desensitized to it, and know when I think about the holocaust horrors part of me just says "Oh, been there, done that."

Now when I read holocaust stories, it just becomes a string of "oh, this plot device already happened in book X, and this one in book Y".

:(

I agree. I visted Auschwitz/Berkinau last month and the whole time I was like "meh, I've seen worse in textbooks." Kind of sad. I wanted to feel something there but it was hard to make any kind of meaningful connection.

Some pathetic people in this thread. See GA.

 It's called a joke. Get over it.

Oh, I'm not mad. I've seen your picture. I take satisfaction in knowing you'd only utter a joke like that after making sure there are no 115-lb., blind, deaf Jews with muscular dystrophy in the room, so that you wouldn't get your ass beaten silly and then thrown under a 40-watt bulb and left to sunburn to death.

"What handicap? The guy's just in a wheelchair, it's not like he's Anne Frank or something."
"Anne Frank?"
"Yeah, Anne Frank. The chick that was all durrr, till the miracle worker showed up and knocked some smarts into her."
"You're talking about Helen Keller."
"No I'm not, I'm talking about Anne Frank. She was deaf, dumb and blind."
"No she wasn't. Helen Keller was deaf, dumb and blind."
"Are you sure?"
"Yup."
"Then who the fuck's Anne Frank?"

It is amazing because Anny Frank's book is one of the best selling books of all time and she has become the poster child for innocent people killed during the holocaust and this is the ONLY moving image of her known to exist.

If they found a second "secret" diary by her or something that would be amazing. This is not a game changer so...at best it is a good addition to the collection.

I really wish nothing but the worst for people who have used this thread as an opportunity to make their lame, unfunny, uncreative "look how shocking and edgy I am on the internet, but in real life I'm a total pussy" jokes. You're not funny, and your whole persona has been done countless times before. I genuinely feel sorry for you and your total lack of basic human decency.

Dude, no one dug up her body and had their way with her. No one interrupted a memorial service, or took a dump on her remaining personal belongings. It's a thread about a few seconds of footage - it's not a big deal. You need to deal with the fact that ragging on jews is funny, and sometimes that's going to clash with the holocaust. And just sometimes, when those worlds collide, hilarity ensues.

Still doesn't make anything any different. She is still a poster child for innocent people killed in the holocaust, seeing her in a video doesn't make her any more or less important than an undiscovered picture does.

Sure it's cool that they have a clip of her but I'm sure there are just as many other tragic stories during the same time period and really seeing her in a video isn't "amazing, earth-shattering, revealing, shocking, endearing" or any other over used sentiment. Her story still has meaning with or without seeing her in black and white.
